Attention: NIOC Timeshare owners
Are there any owners that have any knowledge as to whose hands (more likely bank accounts) the 2013 Maintenance Fees are going to end up in? We really can't believe whoever it is actually feels justified in charging it when bills aren't paid, nor units maintained as they should be. Hope someone knows. Thanks.
I have no clue. As far as I know, invoices haven't been sent out for 2013. Kind of hard to do when nobody has been working. Last year was the first year I didn't receive one (usually received in Oct.) so got mine when I was staying w/ Jean in one of the NBCC rooms last Feb. Will have a friend who is going down soon get mine for me for 2013 fees. As far as I know, rates are the same as last year. Three guesses why we had the big jump in fees a few years ago. Yep... strata fees not being paid by R. so condo owners & TS owners pay more. Now that he gets the TS $$$, who knows???
We got our maintenance bill for 2013 before we left in January. We will pay it when we arrive in Dec 2013.... It is so noted on the bill... due upon arrival. This is what we asked for and what NIOC did. No idea who was getting the money in the past. Look at your cancelled checks. That should tell you. Ours went to some financial group in Kingston!
Yvonne: I don't believe that the maintanence bills are being sent out via mail, but if you tell them you are going to be there in 2013 you are immediately sent a bill via email. This was the case with us just recently. Yes, the rates, at least ours, was the same as last year. Still a ridiculous amount!!! We have never paid in advance all the years we have owned. They get it when we see that things are in our unit and working.....then they will get paid. Daune used to tell me that there was a fairly large group of us owners that raised he_ _ if things were not in order in their units. Over the years I have walked in on many episodes of raised voices, to yelling, to screaming at Daune because of the conditions of their units.
ClaudiaInIowa: We received our bill via email. We buy a money order so no cancelled check to see where it's deposited.
Thanks ladies for your responses.
fees fees fees...lol..i go to negril to get away from stuff like this....
Thanks for the tip re: e-mail vs. snail mail invoices. I wonder why I wasn't told that last year. They have my e-mail address. There's always e-mail correspondence back & forth anyway as I work out accelerating weeks & adjusting dates. They've always been great in working w/ me. I've accelerated for years since I actually own 4 weeks back-to-back but stay 5-7 weeks. I've always paid in advance & was surprised to learn from many TS owners that they pay when they get there. Maybe it's because I do pay in advance that they're always so good, nice to me. I pay my condo fees here at home quarterly for the convenience, too. I don't get copies of cancelled checks but I might have a copy of one from the last few years if I paid w/ a check from my money market account vs my regular checking account. Thanks all!
Does this mean you stay in a hotel for free? If so, I want to know where that is!!! I guess you must stay at an AI since that's the only way you'll get away from paying for something on vacation (just kidding!!!). Of course, you're paying in advance. Oops... looks like you still had to pay a bill. If you go to Negril to get away from paying $$$ you owe for something, that must mean you don't much/anything when there - lol - including eating, drinking, day trips, shopping, etc.
For those who do not understand how the TS thing works, paying TS fees is the same as paying for your hotel room, plain & simple. Unless you have your own place or stay w/ family or friends, most people will be doing the same thing when they go on vacation... paying for the place where they sleep at night. Hope this helps.
OMG, so happy to have found this thread... and hope someone can help me understand how NBCC works.
I'm going down to stay for 3 nights in a unit which is for sale - I'm hoping this means it's a condo but how exactly does this condo work?
Will 'Jean'? be managing the unit for rental? how much of the rent does this cost?
I'm sure I'll get the scoop in a couple weeks :) but any insight ahead of my trek down would be appreciated!
I might be your neighbor;)
BTW - here's a link to the unit we'll be staying in and buying if all goes well;
Anyone know this unit first hand? thoughts?
