Cliff dweller needs advice on beach...
Good morning from snowy Cleveland...
Since I always stay on the cliffs, I really have no sense of the beach. My sister, ( a very young and social 50 year old) will be travelling solo in Feb. and is looking for a place on the beach. Needs to be safe, have en suite bath, fridge and cost about $30-50 a day. She's been to Negril before, so she (somewhat) knows the lay of the land. My concern is that since she'll be solo she needs an easily accessible location, preferably on the seaside. Don't want her crossing the street after a day/night of enjoying herself... and she will enjoy herself! She is flexible if there's an ideal place on the cliffs. Any and all thoughts welcomed. Thank you and Happy New Year!
PS- Dates of travel 01/31-02/14.

Re: Cliff dweller needs advice on beach...
$30 to $50 a day kind of limits beach stays, maybe Travlers, Bar-B-Barn, Fun holiday. Check out Negril One Stop.

Re: Cliff dweller needs advice on beach...
What if she went up to $70 a day?

Re: Cliff dweller needs advice on beach...
Did you eck out this pages hotels section? But this only lists summer rates but does have contact information.
-
Re: Cliff dweller needs advice on beach...
Yes, I checked it out. But I like to hear/read what boardies have to say.

Re: Cliff dweller needs advice on beach...
look on trivago.com,maybe you can find something there.

Re: Cliff dweller needs advice on beach...
You might be able to get a studio at Firefly for around 75 a night. The cabins there will be cheaper but share an outdoor bathroom.
-
Re: Cliff dweller needs advice on beach...
If you find all that for under 70$ In Feb., I would be surprised. A lot of places are sold out. Anything left over I may not suggest to a loved one. Good hunting! Let us know what you come up with.

Re: Cliff dweller needs advice on beach...
You could get your cheapest rate at Roots Bamboo but I don't know if they include a fridge. I think everyone on the board would jump all over $30 a night.

Re: Cliff dweller needs advice on beach...
jab b across from Rooms, cottages around $35.00 u.s. a nite, soon come

Re: Cliff dweller needs advice on beach...
On the beach, you'd be lucky to get what she wants for $70. Fun Holiday may be the cheapest right on the beach. I agree with checking Trivago daily. Also do a search for Mango Tree, just up a lane from Canoe, recently refurbished and GREAT prices. She may be able to get a room across from the beach at Hidden Paradise or Coral Seas Garden within her price range.

Re: Cliff dweller needs advice on beach...
I would call and have credit card ready to pay you might find a deal. The Palms,Sunset On The Beach and Fun Holiday(where you might get good rate but have no room when you arrive).

Re: Cliff dweller needs advice on beach...
Ansell's Thatchwalk Resort is in your sister's price range; I'm always hesitant to recommend Ansell's, because I want it all to myself! (sorry, Ansell) Nice simple cabins a few steps from the best part of 7-mile beach.
Soon come!

Re: Cliff dweller needs advice on beach...
also try Barry's Bold as Love --- rooms about $50 per night
Mom's has rooms also and so does Coconuts International . . .
relatively new rooms - on the beach side
-
Re: Cliff dweller needs advice on beach...
also check hostels.com --- saw some low rates for some of the places mentioned here - saw Ansell for $31
-
Re: Cliff dweller needs advice on beach...
Seven gave good suggestions. Barrys Bold as love, Ansells, yellow bird. There's alot of hotel on the morass side that fit her price range as well.

Re: Cliff dweller needs advice on beach...
That rate for those dates is pretty unrealistic. She might get close if she checks out Negril Yoga Centre. It's across the road but not bad for the price. I had to do it long ago when I was out of work on worker's comp & had no $$$. In 2001 I paid $50 a night so... not sure what she'll get for her budget in 2014.

Re: Cliff dweller needs advice on beach...
I will be there when your sister is there. I am staying at the Negril Palms. I hear good things and not so good things. I just don't expect to much, so this way I will not be disappointed. Get your sister on this board. I would like to talk to her before her journey. I can keep an eye on her and try to keep her out of trouble. Tell her she has a 52 year old gentleman caller. Jah Scott
