When I was there in February, nothing was going on.
I can't say more than ..."just keep your eye on it".....
good things coming
a police station?
Grocery? Restaurant? Bar?
Saw the poles go in..then the roofing between late Jan thru early March before I departed....the other question is..where are all those vendors that have been there for years in front of it going to go
Just relax and you'll soon see
Negril.Com headquarters office
Oh, now ... that's just cruel, Cap! Please, please tell us! We pinky swear we won't tell ANYONE else, right guys? Now my curiosity is in overdrive.
What good things?
Rats. I can tell that you're probably one of those honourable people who won't say what he has been asked to keep under his hat!
If you were the kind of man who took bribes, what would you take? Just askin' ..... no reason! :)
New construction is a 2nd Margaritaville according to the vendors at Roots Bamboo, who are being evicted.
Irie Andy
So why the mystery? Thanks. Interesting.
So.... if this is more than rumor... I'm curious what others on the board think... is this a good thing? I mean, jobs are good, that goes without saying (but I did). But would a second M'ville really be a welcome thing for the smaller businesses?
One loud overpriced tourist trap on the beach is enough!
Can't say I'm too excited about a 2nd Margaritaville on 7 mile beach. If it's going to be a Margaritaville-like venue, then I would probably give it a chance. But I'm certainly not interested in overpriced drinks and food service-style American food on the beach.
Margaritaville had the WORST Margarita I have ever tasted. When I asked for something to add to it he brought me rum punch to put in it~~CLEARLY he was NOT a BARTENDER~~
JOY
It is NOT a Margaritaville. The property is Jamaican owed and being developed privately.
Probably a restaurant and vendors.
My daughter's place "Fruits and Roots" was there before the construction and expect to be back after the improvements.
Cap
I hope Lindsay and some of the other long-time vendors get to maintain their businesses.
According to people who hang out there, It is a large bar/restaurant (one guy said possibly a strip club). It is constructed using old-school Jamaican construction techniques (this from Slinky) - ie; cedar poles planted deep in the sand, hardwood framing members, thatch roof.
I was also told by some that the existing vendors will be accommodated on the new site.
It looks pretty cool and should be a good addition to the beach.
Thanks Cap'n... that's a bit of a relief!
