This was us de-planing in 1991. Big O' DC-10. The baggage handlers towed the luggage from the plane to about where I'm standing taking this picture and chucked it off in a big pile, right on the tarmac, while the tourist dug thru it.

I miss the days when they served rum punch on the way there. First trip in the 70s, someone tried to sell Ganga while we were still waiting for our luggage :)
Maybe they could use some of it to get the people movers and the escalators
that were already paid for working, so you don't have to haul bags up escalator
Man o man, nice old photos.
Mi miss the 6:30 A.M. flight on Air Jamaica.
Champagne, Orange Juice and Breakfast!

Cool. Thanks for sharing johng.
Great pics, we remember those days, as soon as they opened the door and the heat rushed in.....we're back :)
35 days and we are back again.
Not an old photo, and I'm not much of a photographer, but I think this one turned out OK.

i sure do miss stepping out into the sunshine as we were getting off the plane and getting that last bit of sun as we were boarding on the way home. though as the song line goes. stay right here cause these are the good ol days
Thanks Tod - got it. I hope they take some money to improve the baggage area. When I arrived only one carousel was working for 4 arrivals!
Along with the baggage area, I hope Airport administration and scheduling will be improved. When few agents have to process 4 planes all landing at the same time, waiting for hours doesn't need to happen in this day and age. And does this mean the weed machines at the airport? LOL :cool-new:
Thanks for the photos johng!
Hi EandA, Todd, Jaherring and saeyudoc,
I am glad you enjoy the old photos of Sangster and the great flights from back then. My memories include good in air food, the champagne, the rum punch and especially the in flight fashion shows. Stepping out of the plane was like walking into a blast furnace and the colors and smells were uniquely Jamaica!!

I don't miss the pesticide they would spray down the plane aisles - although I don't remember if that was coming or going... Like EandA I really miss the plane doors opening and the wave of JAH wiping away all cares.
Does anyone take the bus from the airport to Negril?
https://www.knutsfordexpress.com/
The Knutsford bus line just opened up at the Montego Bay airport a few days ago...we saw them completing the last few touches to their roundabout type service centre this past week.
Their bus service is very good if your flight times coordinate with their bus service.
Of course, a private transfer with always be quicker, more personal...you can stop where/when you want. :encouragement:
