Ok all you Midwestern people who fly out of MSP to Montego Bay, I need your help!
We are booked to come to Jamaica the end of November and I'm looking at my flight options. We normally fly Sun Country since it's nonstop, but I can't get any information about flights. With all the changes that have been made to the airlines, I may not even want to fly with them anymore!
So who do all you fly with?
Any help would be appreciated!
We've always have had good luck with Delta.
Todd, Do you usually have long layovers?
It's different year to year, we go in February and have found direct flights sometimes as seen here https://www.google.com/flights/#flt=...D;e:1;sd:1;t:f. Maybe an hour and a half layover in Atlanta. 300 days out from our trip I go to google flights and start looking every couple/few days. It gives you airline options and of course pricing for your dates. We've booked many months in advance when we find a decent flight at a decent price.Quote:

I recommend Delta via Atlanta. Continental Scare-lines via Houston or Philly is just horrible.
Thanks to the Midwest peeps! I'm going to keep checking different flights and cross my fingers! Once I get on a plane, I want to be there and be there NOW, so the shortest flights are always the best.
Jojo, I love the Atlanta airport, and you're right about easy to navigate. Kind of reminds me of the MSP airport
Delta is #1 out of Minneapolis for all the above reasons and more. Never had an issue. Southwest is #2 Good prices and itineraries.
So for the last couple years we have been using a new approach. Definitely agree with Todd the earlier you book the better. It didn't used to be that way, but the way things are going you have to book your room for the following year before you leave, so you may as well start looking for flights right? Anyhow, the new approach. Last year we booked united after they big blow up when they dragged the doctor off the plane. They were hundreds cheaper than anyone after that incident and we booked out of Duluth with a short layover in Chi Town for 490 a ticket. This year after a dog passed away in their hold, then a short time later they had to reroute a flight because of a dog on the wrong plane, we once again hit the united jackpot with flights out of Duluth for 557 return a ticket with the same short layover in Chi Town. In the 11 years we have been going these prices compare or are better than Minni and we don't need a nights hotel in Minni or shuttle service to and from Duluth as we can take off and land at home. This was never an option for us before. We used to fly Southwest all the time but I think the thing that changed for us was we couldn't book a year out because of their limited calendar of flights. So now we watch the news feeds for airline mishaps that lead to temporary price drops to bring people back. I know it sounds goofy, but two years in a row we have found significant fare reduction shortly after airline mishaps.

I am traveling to Negril the end of November too. Sun Country non-stop doesn't start til Dec. 20th or so. I haven't booked flight yet, am watching an American flight out of Sioux Falls, SD then hour & half layover in Chicago. Same on return. Great times. But, too spendy right now. 2 months ago, it was $582, Now $718, Just have to wait and see, hope it doesn't go higher. Does American have "mishaps"?
Our biggest issue is living 3 hours away from Mpls, and 2 from Fargo, so we would have to travel to the airport either way. But I never thought about leaving out of Fargo, so I'll have to keep an eye on that.
Irine, while it sounds kind of goofy there's a lot of merit in doing airfare that way and I'm gonna have to keep watching the news. Not that I'm hoping for bad things or anything since I don't want lady Karma to smack me up.

Maralunatic. Yeah, we live like 4 hours from Mpls. and 1& A half hours from Fargo or Sioux Falls. Our town is Hooterville {Ortonville}. I'm booked at Seastar & White Sands. 20th trip to Negril. Yamon' Irie vibes to you.
Check the price if you fly back on Monday, you might be surprised.

Maralunatic..for over the last year the prices from Fargo have been no more them MSP..and many times less. You can usually get 1 stop flights most of the time..with the connections being in Dallas and Chicago for American..and of course MSP for Delta..Departures are usually about 6 am..arrivals at MBJ at 2:00 give or take. And you can park at Fargo airport for about 6$ a day..
Fargoman, me likee the idea of $6 parking! Guess I'll have to check out Fargo!
