"Bob Marley reincarnated"?...Ummmm...I don't think so.
Can you believe this? Ok, Bob Marley has been uinspirational to many. But to claim to be "Bob Marley reincarnated"...? I hope he was speaking figuratively. Good for him for turning a new page though.

I think its a beautiful thing- from rapping about guns and violence- to chanting for peace and love. I hope many youths see the light as well through his awakening.

We can only hope murph. That would be nice. Thanks for posting the video.

Re: "Bob Marley reincarnated"?...Ummmm...I don't think so.
I love it, and think it's awesome that he is evolving as a human being and as an artist, have been and remain a big fan, and love the fact that he stands up for Marijuana rights, it is time to free the herb.

Re: "Bob Marley reincarnated"?...Ummmm...I don't think so.
Bob Marley reincarnated....no way. But that doesn't mean I'm not totally excited about this change and upcoming album! Thanks for sharing!
-
Re: "Bob Marley reincarnated"?...Ummmm...I don't think so.
yeah I take it as a positive thing. And I didn't take away that he is saying he is Bob Marley reincarnate, but that he felt a deep connection with Bob's spirit and what moved Bob in his Rastafarian faith and how he expressed it to the world in his music.
-
Re: "Bob Marley reincarnated"?...Ummmm...I don't think so.
He sounds happy. I'm happy for im :)

Re: "Bob Marley reincarnated"?...Ummmm...I don't think so.
I'm in too~Bless up for the postive vibes and change!!

Re: "Bob Marley reincarnated"?...Ummmm...I don't think so.
Super stoked for Snoop! I know what JA did for me, and I can't wait to see what's in store for him (and us for that matter)!
-
Re: "Bob Marley reincarnated"?...Ummmm...I don't think so.
Quite frankly, I am psyched to hear the new album. As they say, "Nothing as inevitable as change" Big ups to a positive vibe!

Re: "Bob Marley reincarnated"?...Ummmm...I don't think so.
can't wait to hear the new album and check out the doc.

Re: "Bob Marley reincarnated"?...Ummmm...I don't think so.
Trust me, his message isn't going to change, just the beat of the music will change. Looking at the video, he is still promoting drug abuse. I wouldn't waste a minute on him or his music. Go back to California Snoop Dog.
-
Re: "Bob Marley reincarnated"?...Ummmm...I don't think so.
Lots of reggae music references ganja and promotes its use.
-
Re: "Bob Marley reincarnated"?...Ummmm...I don't think so.
I've watched the trailer three times and don't see where he is claiming to be Bob Marley reincarnated. In fact Bob's name or image don't show up at all. Perhaps this is in another trailer or article? I would think it would be disrespectful for Snoop to make that inference so I was very interested to see it. I think the title "Reincarnation" is not about Bob at all but in the reincarnation (rebirth) of himself. I understand how the two could be confused as the colors, reggae, and rastafari movement have always been so strongly associated with Bob. Maybe I'm misinterpreting....
-
Re: "Bob Marley reincarnated"?...Ummmm...I don't think so.
Well LA LA LA was just an average dub with Millionaires of Love's Antibella as the background track......not that impressed so far.
-
Re: "Bob Marley reincarnated"?...Ummmm...I don't think so.
Agreed Kevin. That was pretty rough. Fan of Snoop. Fan of Reggae. Not sure they blend well though. Good for him for doing something different and hopefully his embrace of JA in sincere....
-
Re: "Bob Marley reincarnated"?...Ummmm...I don't think so.
Go 'head, Snoop. Forward!

I've tried to ignore this comment but I just can't let it go. Lots of artists in all genre of music promote drug abuse. Roll out the Barrel? Smoking in the boys room? Whiskey in the jar? Shall I move onto country songs with references to cocaine alcohol and nicotine found in many classic tunes. The term drug abuse is very subjective. What constitutes a drug and what constitutes abuse? How many people need that cup of speed...I mean coffee every morning? Caffeine is a drug and having to have some every morning could be considered abuse?

Re: "Bob Marley reincarnated"?...Ummmm...I don't think so.
Kevin thank you I was biting my tongue. Point well made. Also agree on the track...not real impressed, but I am impressed however with his positive change. Not sure how well it will play out but it's definately a better direction for him in in general. Sounds like he's experiencing a whole life change.
-
Re: "Bob Marley reincarnated"?...Ummmm...I don't think so.
I am in fully agreement with my brother from PA and TizzyATX. Both about the quality of the music and the outlook of snoop in general.
-
Re: "Bob Marley reincarnated"?...Ummmm...I don't think so.
Not to tick anyone off.....I'm not a fan of Snoop Dogg, but respect that he found a niche (in rap)and made it succesful.....but I'm less of a fan now....leave this art to those who craft it well.....IMHO, I prefer not to hear his stuff in a Pandora or Music Choice reggae channel...
-
Re: "Bob Marley reincarnated"?...Ummmm...I don't think so.
Here here.....i agree totally lisapat. Listening to Snoop "trying" to "do" Raggae is just somewhat painful to listen to....IMHO.

Re: "Bob Marley reincarnated"?...Ummmm...I don't think so.
Well I loved the song, and am looking forward to hearing more. As far as a drug goes, well marijuana is a wonderful plant, both the hemp and the cannabis aspects of that, and when you pay attention to science and reason instead of propaganda and fearmongering, the research has proven that over and over again. Snoop has been a vocal proponent of cannabis use for a long time, so for him to turn to RasTaFarI to further evolve as a human being really makes a lot of sense.

Re: "Bob Marley reincarnated"?...Ummmm...I don't think so.
No disrespect meant...negrilaholic. I personally just don't find SnoopDogg...AKA...SnoopLion....on my list of favorites. I have no problem with rastafarai or smoking of the "herb"...or making items out of hemp...it's a fabulous plant...wish I could grow it legally...just don't like the sound of the "new" Snoop...and not a huge fan of the "old" Snoop. That's all....sorry if I offended you.
-
Re: "Bob Marley reincarnated"?...Ummmm...I don't think so.
Oh I'm not offended at all, lol, I just tend to get a little activist about marijuana use because of how beneficial it has been in my life to help my ptsd symptoms is all.
-
Re: "Bob Marley reincarnated"?...Ummmm...I don't think so.
The guy (Snoop) is excited about his new direction and rebirth. He might have meant that he feels the vibe and felt like Bob had entered his soul and misspoke. I'm going to give the Dog a pass on this one for the time being and celebrate the joy that he is feeling right now. He was alive before Bob died so reincarnation is out of the picture.

Re: "Bob Marley reincarnated"?...Ummmm...I don't think so.
As Kevin has said, drug abuse (or definition of a drug), is subjective. A Rastafarian would never consider marijuana a "drug", to him it is a sacrament, and is only one aspect of a way of life. Marijuana has been of very real and substantial benefit to many people. (unlike drugs such as alcohol)
By the way the guy on the beach with dreadlocks, eating jerk chicken, or asking you to buy him a beer, is not a Rastafarian. Just because a person has dreadlocks, or says he is a Rasta doesn't make it so. I doubt many of us have even spoken with a Rastafarian. No Rastafarian would promote drug abuse. (I know I am probably preaching to the choir;)
I hope Snoop is sincere in what he says, his actions will speak louder than words.

Re: "Bob Marley reincarnated"?...Ummmm...I don't think so.
I wonder why not give it some time before casting judgement so quickly. I am psyched that he is taking this turn and seems to have been genuinely touched by true Rasta culture and has had an awakening and recognition of sorts. From comments I have seen (not so much here, but elsewhere) people are being very quick to judge and even down talk his experience and change and be critical of his change in music style. Who is to judge another on their calling. He alone knows his heart, and as an artist will express that. If people don't like his music, they don't have to listen. I for one never listened to him before, and can't say if I will now--but I can relate to what he has described as his experience in Jamaica and the positivity in his change of message. Positivity to the world, I say.

Re: "Bob Marley reincarnated"?...Ummmm...I don't think so.
I'm very interested in watching the Documentary. I don't have a problem with Snoop exploring this aspect of music/culture.
-
Re: "Bob Marley reincarnated"?...Ummmm...I don't think so.
Did Snoop do the MTV Spring Breaks in Jamaica some years ago?
-
Re: "Bob Marley reincarnated"?...Ummmm...I don't think so.
Not discussing if I like Snoop or not,I think he has had a spiritual awakening like many of us who have spent time in Jamaica! Might be a positive thing for him .
-
Re: "Bob Marley reincarnated"?...Ummmm...I don't think so.
More power to Snoop!! He has just been bit by the JAMAICAN bug like many many folks!!! If wants to do reggae music and is inspired by Bob Marley (who has inspired many) then let him do it and bring more reggae music awareness to the young folks.
NOW I can post of pic of my oldest son who is a true reincarnation of Bob Marley...he looks exactly like him, LOL!!!

Re: "Bob Marley reincarnated"?...Ummmm...I don't think so.
It's really not the issue of this drug use; it's his whole message - disrespecting women, disrespecting the law and his overall thug image. I saw Snoop 2 years ago at the Grammy’s where he was walking 2 women w/ dog leaches around their necks. He often sings about gun play, being a pimp and drugs. It will be surprising to me to find out that he really is sincere about changing his ways as opposed to trying to sell his music. BTW, snoop dog and Bob Marley should never be used in the same sentence, there are no similarities, one believes in peace, love and uniting the world and the other believes division and hatred.

dido kevin and the track is one of the first hes figuring it out we'll see if he can get it, he has the ability lets see if he can reach it

These comments make a lot more sense to me and I agree with much of what you say above......but there can be no peace without any understanding, forgiveness, healing and moving forward. It seems to me this is what snoop wants to do.... we can only wait and see. I'll take the mans word and see if his actions live up to it.
I haven't seen where snoop himself has made reference to him being Bob Marley reincarnated, as others have pointed out. This seems to be a headline created by others.

Re: "Bob Marley reincarnated"?...Ummmm...I don't think so.
The reason behind the bob Marley reincarnated headline is because Snoop stated this himself in his press conference.
“Anytime the spirit calls you, you gotta know that it’s serious and it’s real. When the spirit called me, it told me to find something that was connected towards the Bob Marley spirit. Because I’ve always said that I was Bob Marley reincarnated.”
See below you link to the conference:

Clearly Snoop Dogg/Snoop Lion is NOT Bob Marley reincarnated but I think I understand what he was trying to say. He feels inspired by Bob Marley and wants to take his music into a new direction. I don’t think there is anything wrong with that.
I actually think it’s very cool. He’s promoting the beauty of Jamaica, the music, and the Rastafarian culture. He’s trying to turn a new leaf. He wants to focus on love & peace now. I’m all for new beginnings. I look forward to checking out his upcoming album.

Thanks for the link Clairity! Kind of reminds me of the John Lennon "bigger than Jesus" press conference comment.

The Yahoo artical that I linked to has changed since I first read it. The original artical spoke about how he had an epiphany while in Jamaica. He was quoted as saying that he "connected with the spirit of Bob Marley" and that he himself was "Bob Marley reincarnated".
