A visit to Bentley's Crabhouse
The Wisconsin chill has me thinking about Negril so I thought I'd post pics of our recent trip to Bentley's Crabhouse. To this day, it's still the best meal I've had during all of my visits to Jamaica. Bentley's a great guy & amazing story teller. Give him a call in the morning to set up your evening reservations but get there before sunset to appreciate the view. 876 393 6768. Attachment 17482Attachment 17483Attachment 17484Attachment 17485

His place is up Pee Wee Lane a couple hundred yards on the right hand side. If coming from the beach you will turn left right after Blue Cave Castle. You will also see his billboard as you are turning.

Re: A visit to Bentley's Crabhouse
Eden,
Shockingly, yes!
Insert Katho's photo of her clean plate here (or the one of Markus' almost clean plate, I think he only left a couple of carrots lol)
Mine on the other hand looked like I hadn't even touched it though I felt like I had been eating for hours!
It was soooooooooooooooo yummy. Can't wait to go back in December!

Re: A visit to Bentley's Crabhouse

Re: A visit to Bentley's Crabhouse
Of my!!! We visited Bentleys in August, one of the best meals I have eaten in Ja...and I too could not put a dent in all the food that Bentley serves on your plate.....what a joy to meet such a friendly man and the stories he tells of learning to cook by his father to the special all white kitty he owns...and that wonderful laugh he has...if you have not had the pleasure of meeting Bentley, please make it a must do!

Sounds really good, Marley! We will have to try it. Btw, does he only cook crab or are there other menu choices?

Re: A visit to Bentley's Crabhouse
He's on my list.....I guess I can walk there from Xtabi or Sea Star....

Re: A visit to Bentley's Crabhouse
How much Old Bay should I bring him?
http://www.amazon.com/Old-Bay-Season...+bay+seasoning
Is 7.5 LB too little? I don't want to offend him by bringing him too little for his use but I hear he goes through a lot of it...

Re: A visit to Bentley's Crabhouse
It is close to Xtabi, but quite a long walk from SeaStar.
Regards,
Bob

-
Re: A visit to Bentley's Crabhouse
I think there was 12 of us when we ate there back in April and there was plenty of room

Re: A visit to Bentley's Crabhouse
Ditto that, jcjcnj! We are beach people, but it's time to start exploring the Cliff's!
In our 7 trips to Negril, we've not eaten in the Cliffs...
What better place than Gerryg123's fave spot, Bentleys!
Happy Travels...

Watcha been smokin Kevan? The best food is on the best end(West End)....
Miyard for the 2am killer egg sandwich.
Eddie's Debar for the bomb chicken with typically a more local chill crowd. Make sure you hang out with Bobo, a fine wood carver who has a ton of passion for all things conversation.
Connie's C&D/Jenny's for some good Texas BBQ on Friday with just enough Country.
Chris' Saturday night Reggae/ buffet shows at Seastar with the occasional special guest. This is the only place in the world to eat a buffet. And if you like some drumming this is the place to go. Everything I have eaten here is great, from the thin crust pizza, to the pot roast as well as the breakfast.
Hanging with Kevin and Ty and the ladies at Ivan's with some amazing food from the chefs Garfield and Sanjay.
And how can you miss Teddy's at Blue Cave Castle?
And the list goes on and on.... But do not forget Bentley. His food is great and Bentley is pure entertainment. Such a gentle soul who has a passion for his cooking and whom aims to please. Make sure you take him a can of Old Bay.

Is there anywhere that has a compiled list of the must eat at places on the West End and where they are? If I get a cab will they know where all the places you mentioned are? It looks like I'll be eating at least 5-7 meals a day.

Re: A visit to Bentley's Crabhouse
Can anyone tell me how much the crabcake "five things on the plate!) costs?
-
Re: A visit to Bentley's Crabhouse
It tends to fluctuate on how much jewelry you're wearing, but usually $15 US or perhaps 1500j ....

Re: A visit to Bentley's Crabhouse
Thanks Gerry, I think Bentley is gonna be one busy guy this season!
