Most romantic dining spot for my bride and me
Having gotten down on one knee and asking Cindy to be my bride a back in 2010 at Woopies with Dennis and friends in attendance, we now return in 11 days as husband and wife. I really need some advise on where to take her for that once in a lifetime, most excellent and romantic dining experience that just makes us go "wow". I had the best meal in my life (up till now) at Catcha dining on lobster thermadore, so we will do that again but I am looking for the something different and special. What do you recommend?

Villa Sur Mer? Rooftop of Kuyaba?
If you talk with a manager and/or chef ahead of time you will be so pleased on how gracious they will be and how special they will make things for you.

I say, What coulkd be more romantic than crabs? A nice romantic meal at Bentleys Crab Shack would be my choice. Bentley will cook you up a nice plate of crabs and all the fixins'. Lots of little white lights and candles on the tables for that romantic evening.
I would also suggest Ivan's at Catch a Falling Star....very romantic place for a meal and drinks with a wonderful view of the sea.

I was thinking the exact same thing about Bentley's. The setting is rustic and it is not right on the water, however the two of you entertained and fed by Bentley would be awesome...... Just remember to hit him up that morning or the day before to get on the same page as him. He'll also ask for a little payment up front. I gave him $30 if I remember correctly and that was to feed 4 people as well as to pick up some Red Stripes for the 4 of us. The $30 was not the entire meal cost, just a starter and when you see the meal the total cost will not be out of line.

Re: Most romantic dining spot for my bride and me
I personally think you can't get much better than Ivan's at Catcha (especially the Night of 100 candles dinner)
But since you asked for other ideas here would be my suggestions:
1) The Rock Table at Rockhouse. Call or email them and make arrangements ahead of time. It is a special table on the cliff all by itself, I think they only do a couple of seatings a night. You are all off by yourself and have your own server. It is very nice. There is no extra charge for that table you just have to reserve it. They also however have another option which is somewhat like the 100 candles dinner at Catcha.
It is located away from the restaurant out over by the massage hut and includes a set price and set menu
2) The Caves. This is a fancy AI property on the cliffs that has a dinner in a cave option. I originally thought that was only available for guests but I recently heard that they will offer it to outside guests so maybe check into that. Basically they set up a table inside a cave and fill it with candles. Sounds VERY romantic
Have fun whatever you choose, and congrats on the marriage!

The Lodge at Tensing Pen is beautiful, reserve a table on the deck for a lovely evening.

Re: Most romantic dining spot for my bride and me
Sorry...If it aint broke don't fix it??? Ivans is great for the scenery/price/service/food.....Wait staff at Rockhouse can get a bit snooty....

Re: Most romantic dining spot for my bride and me
I felt same about Rockhouse. My best dining experience, hands down, Ivans 100 candles.

Re: Most romantic dining spot for my bride and me
Someone please call my husband and teach him a thing or two or three.... I love him dearly though!
Congrats, and I say 100 Candles Dinner at Catcha!

Re: Most romantic dining spot for my bride and me
I do agree with the statements about the staff at Rockhouse......but then again after always hanging with the staff at Catcha, I am clearly spoiled and also biased, because they're the best!

Re: Most romantic dining spot for my bride and me
Some of our most romantic dinners were spontaneous. We had a long day on the beach in the sun and decided to walk up to Best in the West for a late dinner. We found the atmosphere didn't 't fit our mood so we crossed the road to IdleAwhile. We were the only ones there and close to closing but they served us a wonderful meal and we talked for a couple of hours. Nobody rushed us out but stayed on the periphery if needed. We slept well that night!

Re: Most romantic dining spot for my bride and me
Well............decisions, decisions. I think that I have it narrowed down to the Caves and Catcha. How tough is it to get a reservation at either in early October, kinda on short notice? I would love to hear more experiences at either. Shhhhh....don't tell Cindy, it's a suprise.

Re: Most romantic dining spot for my bride and me
If you are doing 100 candles reserve now as they only do one table per night. I don't t speak from experience but wonder about the hygiene in a cave. Bat poop and other nastiness??

Re: Most romantic dining spot for my bride and me
If you mean a private cave dinner at The Caves I'd think it might be best to call them quite a bit ahead of time. Even though October isn't high season the Cave dinners get booked up quickly by guests staying there. Just one heads up on the cave dinner.. It can be uncomfortably warm, especially in the one cave(can't remember if its the smaller or larger one). We did the cave dinner last December while staying there, it was nice to experience and we were able to get the better cave ,but I'd have to say the meal wasn't anything special. But I suppose since you'll be paying for it(and I'll assume its $$) you will be given a choice of menu.

Re: Most romantic dining spot for my bride and me
I will be at Catcha on Tuesday night with my wife (celebrating our 30th anniversary) staying is Sagi as a surprise I booked the 100 candle dinner for that night, report to follow. She has no idea where we are staying the first night or what we are doing. We then move to CSA for a couple of weeks, I can hardly wait. Soon Come!

Re: Most romantic dining spot for my bride and me
1st, Congratulations! There is nothing I can add to what everyone has shared... Seems like ya just might be in line for two or three "Nights/Meals of a Lifetime",lol!
Why not, It's your honeymoon and although it's not discussed much here, I read a certain book that says when we find a wife, we find a good thing! There is nothing wrong wth spoiling your good thing. Everytime we come to Negril, that for me is an important part of the trip. Double kudo's to you "Tanfastic"...
Congrats again....

Re: Most romantic dining spot for my bride and me
You've narrowed your choices down to the the Caves or Catcha, but here's another place you might want to try sometime. I had one of my most romantic dinners at a candlelit table on the beach at Sun Beach Restaurant. Dennis the Menance is there and is wonderul! He kept bringing my Red Stripes to me balanced on his head through the sand and the food (I had the blackened snapper) was fantastic!
In addition, try to go on the night when they have a live reggae show. The show was outstanding as well!

Re: Most romantic dining spot for my bride and me
The food and people at Sunbeach are great but friends got bitten alive from ankles to butt in September. They ate there at sunset. Don't know if the flies are seasonal but it was intolerable in September.

Re: Most romantic dining spot for my bride and me
Hi Shell, It's the smaller cave that can get kinda hot. I have to agree with you regarding the food. We definitely enjoyed it, but the food was not over the top special, (then again I was in the 1st trimester of my pregnancy and most foods weren't that appealing during that time, ha!) The ambiance was quite unique though, and incredibly romantic with all the candles lit, and flower petals strewn everywhere. We stayed at the Caves twice before, and have really enjoyed the privacy of the place. Not sure how the booking of the cave dinners are done for non guests as I don't think they offered that option when we were there, but they sure do book up pretty fast for guests.

Re: Most romantic dining spot for my bride and me
We stayed at Idle Awhile back in Jan. We had room service to watch the Giants playoff game on Sunday. Dined elsewhere until Thursday, we were the only people there. Sat at the edge of the decking. Had delicious, reasonably priced food, oxtail and curried goat. The moon was shining on the water. The jazz drifted through the clear night air from Charela next door. The staff were unobtrusive and never once hurried us. It was a very wonderful evening. We walked to the water and then strolled the short walk to our lovely, large, ceiling fanned balcony in the tree tops. We had a great experience all around at the Rockhouse, Ivans, Kuyaba as well. But there was something so great about dining at "home".

Re: Most romantic dining spot for my bride and me
i totally agree about the special "treehouse" dining in effect. Thats one of the reasons we love Idle Awhile and with little ones along we can tuck them in early and still have a romantic dinner "in." Oh, and if you haven't dined next door at Charela yet , you're in for a treat there, too!
yeah... Go Giants!! :)
