Here'Which foods do you like in Negril more than anyplace else?

I can think of a few:

I love the bread, nice and thick, better than any bread anywhere in the world.

I love the chicken, better than any chicken anywhere in the world.

I love the coffee, better than any coffee anywhere in the world.

I love the Ketchup, better than any ketchup anywhere in the world (though Heinz is good 2).

I love the lobster, better than any lobster anywhere in the world (especially at Booby Cay for the scenery, too)

I love the fruit juice, better than any fruit juices anywhere in the world ....

I also like patties, coco bread, festival, dumplings -- lot of stuff local to Jamaica.

the jerk chicken, the soups, lobster from the beach, the coffee, fresh fruit, fresh fish, jerk chicken pizza from Chances, jerk pork and ja patties on the beach, soon come

I love the oxtails, rice & peas, MANGOS!, lobster, chicken foot soup, pea soup w/dumplings, fish, stewed pork, and much much more!Attachment 18115Attachment 18116

Gerry IMHO. Had better bread in France. Had better chicken in Portugal. Better lobster on the Iles de la Madeleine but nothing is better than eating jerk chicken with hardo bread with a side of lobster, in JAMAICA!

Fresh fish is what I love and crave when back in US. And calaloo is another item I LOVE and can't find where I live. And patties........Most else I can try to recreate (and I do try lol).

To me tomatoes are always exceptional here ALWAYS so that homegrown taste every time spoils me too. Same with banana, oranges, pineapple and mango......best I ever tasted so far :-)

Definitely the coffee. All of the fruits amd veggies also taste better.

O my where to start!! Love the jerk chicken and callaloo.....I dream of callaloo and have tried to recreate it but can't. Hope to find seeds this reach. Chances Pizza, Niah's patties, the conch soup I will have my first night there from the guy across the street from Rooms! Anything from Collettas or Montanas or Miss Sonia I love them all. aww now I've made myself sad. Pasta from Jah B's mmmm...... 15 weeks this Friday!!!

Nice thread! Jerk chicken and pork...nothing better in the world to me!! Ackee..sublime! Calalloo, top shelf veg to me! So the many fresh fruits that are the best. Dasheen, breadfruit, yams, curried goat and anything curried! LOL Lobster is smaller than Maine lobster, but somehow a likkle bit sweeter. Not dissing on Maine lobster...for it is totally awesome. But, love the one your with..lobster. Being from West Virginia, trust me, fresh lobster is perfection...no matter where it is from. No comparison to frozen!

And the patties...OMG, wonderful. Coffee, the best! The soups are always to die for...and the fish, well, nothing but the best! And of course, don't forget the combos of fresh fruit juices. And of course, who can leave out the rum! Use to be a vodka gyal, but I am now converted to rum. Can't wait to get back to Jamaica to enjoy all the food, people and sunshine. Soon come and counting the days......

Eating pasta at Bentley's with friends who are tearing up their crab, and the conversation becomes non-existant because everyone is deep into their meal......

And having a random phone conversation with GerryG while I am doing it..

For me its all the fresh veggies, they just taste so much better there. It has to be all the locally grown everything.

And everything else I ate! I am a very picky eater here at home, but JA food is apparently my thing. I ate stuff I would have never dreamed of eating.. my Gary was so proud of me!

There are lots, but the two that come to mind are soup, I never eat soup at home, and have lots while there, and the coco bread.

Pumpkin soup and that slaw they put on your plate. I NEVER eat slaw at home.

Never had anything in JA that I didn't like. I love it all. JA food is definitely for me, I think it is the freshness factor
Can't say the same about the food back home, Raul would definitely call me a picky eater. I just like to say "I don't enjoy things that don't taste good"

But for me, my daily food dreams consist of: Pumpkin soup, cheese patties and coco bread, xtabi french toast, callaloo, plantains, rice and peas, Catcha's Seafood Linguine....and the list could go on.....

I love, love, love the ackee, callaloo and salt fish for breakfast. I always make sure I take a trip to Sweet Spice for the curry goat!!!! Soon come, Negril....18 days but who's counting.

The stuff I like better than ANYPLACE else...

French Fries for sure, and it's crazy that everyplace does them different. They are all in competition with only themselves.

Callaloo, been to a lot of islands, nobody does it better.

Roadside food - The variety and quality is outstanding.

Conch, anyway you want but my favorites are Chicken Lavish conch soup and and Xtabi Conch Burger!!

Tropical fruit - when you buy it from a stand it is ready to eat at just about perfect ripeness. "I'd like a perfect pineapple please" - "Well here you go", How 'bout a perfect mango?" - "Yah Mon, perfect today!", "And how about a perfect soursop?" - "Not today mon, maybe ready tomorrow or the next day." I've had that kind of conversation.

Crab Cakes - Yeah, Bentley's crab cakes... :)

I would have to say I love the coco bread soooo much! Also the fresh veggies, especially the tomatoes mmm, and of course the fresh fish. I could have Red Snapper every day while I'm there!

As much as I eat in Jamaica you would think I would be 500lbs.!!!

First time I had Ox tails......Yeah,I finally got some tail that taste good and didnt bother me in the morning?

I think even the water tastes better in Jamaica. I remember when I first arrived thinking that even the water tasted a little like coconut. Then I decided that the coconut actually tasted like the water kicked up a hundred notches. My theory is there is something magic that happens as the water filters through the limestone that just makes everything on the island taste better - the fruit, the veggies, the animals - you name it. It helps too that everything is so fresh and unprocessed.

Tops on my list to have when I get back - Shamrock's o.j., curried shrimp with rice and peas (everything tastes better with rice and peas!) and jerk chicken.

3 Dives Jerk chicken with a Spitfire to cool it off. Also, Theresa's Jamaican breakfast at Just Natural.

Escovich Fish at Cosmo's! It's the first meal I have on the beach every reach.

For me has to be curried conch at Shark's on west end across from Tensing Pen!

I'm not a tomato fan but I love them in JA. Kuyaba has a great tomato/feta salad. And the fruit...bananas, oranges, pineapple, mango, etc. tastes so much better in JA than what we can get at our local market. I think the Stripes taste better in JA too.

To me EVERYTHING tastes better in Jamaica down to the tuna fish and french fries oh and the mashed potatoes!!! sweetened condensed milk for coffee too!
...Love the grace ketchup too, we have that here in the states.
