Cherish each sunrise/sunset
I have been begging my BFF of 17 years to get her passport so I can take her to Jamaica. She is always so busy with my neices(11 and 13) and my nephew (2 yrs) that she never got around to getting one. My beautiful BFF died in her sleep Sunday night 10/14/12 from a diabetic seizure. She was 33 years old, only one month younger than myself. I was at least able to make it to her home and kiss and hug her goodbye, she was still in her bed, before they took her away. After a lot of crying and reflecting about this loss, somehow I ended up of thinking of Jamaica. I thought of how many beautiful sights and experiences I wanted to share with her. I just continue to count my blessings that I am able to go my favorite place in the world 2x a year. Each sunset and each sunrise I cherish even more than before. Each time I make it back to JA is a blessing, I always feel more centered and more spiritual after I leave JA. I just needed to vent, my heart is very heavy right now, I miss my friend very bad. Also missing Jamaica.

IrieLuv - I’m so sorry for your loss.
My BFF passed away unexpectedly 6 months ago. She was 32 years old.
I can fully relate to the feelings you described. My thoughts went to Jamaica too. I suddenly needed to be there to heal, to feel centered again and to experience those sunsets…embrace life. The sadness was so heavy that I felt like only Jamaica could lift me back where I needed to be. So I booked the tickets.
I have more I want to say but I’m at a loss for words. I feel for you so much.
I just want you to know that I’m thinking about you, praying for you and your friend’s family.

irie luv..
I am so sorry for your loss.
Just want to let you know that i lost my son in 2007.
He passed several weeks before my trip, and i was hesitant to make this trip.
I know in my heart, that he would not want me to cancel, as he gave me a musical
card that played the tune, "aruba, jamiaca...ooooh i want to take ya"....
I took that trip, and it was the most spiritual trip. The jamaican people were so kind and understanding,
after i explained to them what had just happened to me. Jamaica is a healing environment. It soothed my soul.
I hope you continue your travels to jamaica, as i have.....may you find peace and consultation.

Re: Cherish each sunrise/sunset
Many blessing sent. Venting is important, so don't hesitate to let it go. Many us on the board, know exactly just how healing Jamaica can be. What may sound crazy to someone else, is reality to many. Jah guide and may you "come back home to heal your pain" And yes, you are so correct on appreciating every sunrise and sunset. Much love and many prayers sent to you and everyone that loved your friend.
Re: Cherish each sunrise/sunset

will foever have a special place in my heart. I too feel i need to be back in jamaica with my

I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Each day is a gift, cherish every moment.
Re: Cherish each sunrise/sunset
Thanks you guys so much for the love and kind words. After I sent the message I did not look at it again until I woke up out of my sleep last night and it felt so good to see all the responses and it soothed my heart.I turned over and went back to sleep. I actually slept good last night for the first time since Sunday. This board can really be theraputic when it needs to be in more ways than one. Its good to hear from those of you who have been thru the same thing, especially Clarity, its like we are experiencing the same loss. Loss of a BFF in her prime. To those of you who responded and have had recent losses, my heart and prayers go out to you as well. Ekfa5, to loose a son is tragic, I am glad you went on with your trip to Jamaica. I guess Jamaica really does have healing powers. It's crazy to see the common thread that for those of us that love Jamaica when there is a loss , thats where our minds go. Im moving on and healing, but got news yesterday that her parents decided to cremate her. It threw me for a loop, I have never known anyone that was cremated. For some unlogical reason, I wanted her to be buried, but I guess those reasons where selfish. I wanted her to go out like Michael Jackson or Whitney or something like that, I felt she deserved a huge homegoing celebration, I would have helped pay for anything and offered to do so .So I decided I am going to do my own ceremony for her the way that I want. I am going to plant a rose bush at Lake Merrit in Oakland, that is where we would hang out a lot and enjoy the view and people watching. Then I am going to try to figure out how to do the floating laterns and let them loose there. That will make me feel better. I think she deserves so much more, but I have no control over the decisions made. But I can controll how I choose to celebrate her life. March is a long way off, thats when I will be back in Jamaica. Until then I have a few concerts lined up that should help me feel Irie. So for all of you in the Bay Area, Luciano will be at the New Parrish in Oakland on Nov 9th. Clarity and Marcus, you should try to make the performance, it will be great.
On another note my son played "3 little birds" for me when I was down. I always play it for him when times get tough. I thought that was sweet. I play it almost every morning as the sun is rising, it makes me feel good.
