Yellow Bird - One of the owners from Nebraska is taking over the day to day

I believe I may have met this Frank before as he may have been staying there while I was. There was a huge difference between the first few days when we were the only people there, vs the Owner's family being there.

No more Rasta Mikey - Lights were fixed - TV was returned to bar - The Security was Uniformed.

Interesting.

They also brought Juilet back!

I have met Frank Several times.....BIG plans.....I kinda like it the way it is...maybe some sprucing up.

Flip, you posted, "no more Rasta Mikey." Is this the Mike with the glass bottom boat? If so, do you know what happened?

Same guy. I don't know for sure. Either he went on vacation, or he was shooed away by the owner. I didn't really investigate. All I know is.. The second half of my trip. I maybe saw him one time. No boat..

That was from him basically greeting me at my door at YB every morning asking if I wanted a ride on the boat etc.

I am going to be at the YB for a cocktail or 3 tomorrow afternoon. I will post an update when I can.

For a long time, the beach bar at Yellowbird was among the most popular on the beach, and I think some of the past boardie parties have been there, too. It's a well known name, a good reputation. This property has a good chance of being resurrected. ....

It has recentley become one of my favourite stops on the beach!

Beer is always ice cold there...and cheap!

First stayed at the Yellow Bird in the mid '70's, started going back to Jamaica about 15 years ago, stayed in different places till I started going back to the Yellow Bird about 5 years ago, 3 stays since then and will be returning in March. I met an owner about (3) years ago, seemed like a nice guy, maybe Frank. It is an excellent location and I have enjoyed it. Will be interesting to see what goes on, will be looking forward to your posts.

Flip, I'd like to know whether Marcia is still setting up there for cake in the early evening. If not, maybe someone knows where she is now.

Odd, we toured there a few years ago, maybe guided by an owner, at least someone who seemed like an owner. We were asked our email addys for promotions, etc., never heard anything from them. I guess I'd forgotten, too, so no worries!

So I went to the YB for some drinks last Sat.

Rasta Mikey was there.

There 2 for 1 is still there but features a whole array of frozen drinks.

Did not really get too much info out of the staff.

Marica was there during the afternoon while we were there. No special cake at that time though. She did have normal stuff.

She still tends to be there late afternoon early evening.

Heading down to the bird on Jan 20th for our 19th year. It sounds like there's been a few management changes. Can you confirm all is well? I hear Frank is running the place with Juliet and Marva? Mikey is still on the grounds? David and the maids still there? We hear this may be it's last year. Though we have heard this before.

Did not get much other info. Stayed there for a week 6 weeks ago. Everyone you asked about was there then.
