Single Female
Here I am....my husband has alzheimer's disease and I am looking for respite. i am looking for a beach place that has good security. I am not looking for a place for singles who are looking for a hook-up but for a place that I can relax in. I am not a grey-hair but am certainly not a wild-child. I love Negril and even though my husband can no longer go, I want that peace and serenity.

Re: Single Female
Tree House is nice and relaxing. I'd feel comfortable there alone...
-
Re: Single Female
Rooms in the Beach would be even tighter security .....

Re: Single Female
I just returned from Negril Tree House. It's an very well run resort. Food is very good and the place is safe and secure. The pool is nice and the hot tub is actually heated (unlike most resorts). Rooms are clean and beds comfortable. Beach vendors only come on the property if you invite them. The staff is excellent and a good daily buffet breakfast is included.
To get totally relaxed, Cher is a master with a massage ($40 / hour).

Re: Single Female
CocoLaPalm, Sea Wind Resort, Our Past Time Villas, Idle Awhile. You definitely deserve a vacation. Hang in there!

Re: Single Female
It's great that you are going to take time for yourself, much better for everybody in the long run.
I would really suggest Cocolapalm. Security is great and they have hands down the best piece of beach in Negril.
It's nice and clean and everyone makes you feel like family.
Enjoy your time away.

Re: Single Female
When traveling with my then preteen we stayed at Rayon, it's across the road from Sunbeach. Ms Pansy and staff took excellent care of us and made us feel like family.
For a spot directly on the beach I would suggest Coco as well as Seasplash

Re: Single Female
I would recommend either Charela Inn or Treehouse.

Re: Single Female
Very nice and secure and quiet at Country Country. Great made-to-order breakfast included. Caribbean style cottages. I stayed there with my 15 yr old son and we felt very much at home.

Re: Single Female
Country Country was what came to my mind as well.

Re: Single Female
Vote #2 for Rooms on the beach. But I trust all suggests made here.

Re: Single Female
If you want to be away from the action on da beach try Sunset On The Beach, its on the south end last resort before downtown.

Re: Single Female
Cocolapalm or Idle Awhile both would be nice...

Re: Single Female
Rondel has good security.... Usually just enough people if you don't want to feel alone.... but plenty of space and serenity if you want to be alone....
-
Re: Single Female
CoCo or a bit more $ Idle Awhile...From there you can walk right next door to Sun Beach for some music or dinner. Safe there,20 feet away....CoCo has Managers parties and pool parites, nothing crazy but you will want to mingle a bit...My wife and I are mid 50's.
I met a group at Breezes Grand few years ago,a couple in their 60's and two ladies in the same age....We had dinner at the Japaneese place...Turns out they had been coming to Negil since the 70's together....The two other ladies were now widows but Sal kept the group together and they still go !!!! Thats what I would want my wife to do....So------GO.....Bring some sand in a jar back for your husband....He would want that I think, right?

Re: Single Female
My vote would be for Coco LaPalm....nice rooms, 2 pools, hot tub, good food with several good restraunts close by (Idle Awhile for one) nice stretch of beach and great security and staff. Where you decide to stay, relax and enjoy your vacation.

Re: Single Female
I am a 35 year old single female and travel alone to Jamaica quite often. I just returned from Rondel Village and absolutely loved it. The staff, food, and location was absolutely perfect. No complaints! It is very quaint a peaceful, but close to bars, restaurants, and action if you want to get out.

Re: Single Female
I think it is great that you are taking some time for yourself.

Re: Single Female
You've got some great suggestions! I have no doubt that all will be irie! Enjoy yourself and take a break for you. Too often, as caregivers to our loved ones, we tend to forget ourselves. Time to re-group and relax...then you can start again "and make your heart fresh". Have a wondrous trip to clear your mind and your soul. I admire the fact that you are taking this time...it will not only help you, but your husband. As a retired RN of 37 years, I know all too well how the caregivers often need time too. Kudos to you for realizing that. Jah guide!

Re: Single Female
God Bless You! I just came off of two years of FMLA for my late Mom. I found out about respite care in the 2nd of the two years, of caring for
Mom in our home. Respite care is such a blessing. I know you will make a good choice in hotels.
Happy Travels,
Skb

Re: Single Female
Right now I'm looking at the fall and I think my budget would be middle-of-the-road. I appreciate everyone's advice!

Re: Single Female
Treehouse for sure!!! Moses the security guard will take good care of you !! Seriously though the Treehouse has great security, I've never had an issue there when I've stayed solo.
All the staff will lookout for you too & become instant friends! I can't say enough good things about the Treehouse other than it's the only place I stay on the beach!!
