Is 7am too early to "glom" a beach/ pool chair with a towell ?

What is the normal protocal /time period before you tell the selfish guy who has the towell on the chairs at 5am and you dont see him until 11am to say he is ,ya know selfish and throw the towells on the sand the next day ? HIYO?

Hmmm my husband and I put ours out around 7:30 or 8:00, but we truly do use the chairs all day when we do that! 5:00am is maybe a likkle too early especially if the people aren't using them IMHO.

Whatever you do, don't have an accident and spill a purple rain or a dirty banana on that towel and chair

If you're not going to be IN your chairs for an hour or more then you should not be saving them. We stopped going to big resorts in Mexico because of the selfish 5AM people (that and the food worries). I actually think it should be the responsibility of the resort staff to pick up towels from chairs that have not been used. If everyone followed this rule then there would always be enough chairs around for everyone.

Claim the chair when you are going to use it not before, period!

Ha! I could not stand the lounge chair saving at CSA. We are from NJ. We go to the beach for the day when we go to the beach. We set up, do what we do. We do the same thing in Negril. At Idle Awhile it was great. After the first day when we picked our spot, each day our spot was set up and ready for us whenever we arrived. Most days it was around 8:30 ish. We "stayed" at our spot until the sun set. We would walk and walk, hit the water, walk and walk, have lunch, walk and walk, hit the water, walk and walk. It was a wonderful vacation. One of the best beach vacations we have ever had.

I get up very early and like my walks on the beach.I never do the towell thing.It's SO anti-Negril,ya know. It's the opposite of the vibe,you don't RUN and glom the chair. One early morning I see the chairs at an A/I,two chairs had ROCKS on them,not even towells,Rocks?

At CLP, I pay the beach guy weekly to have my lounges and towel ready for me under the almond tree any time I want it...

Stayed at CSA once and the place is great. BUT ? Very $$$ ? When I walk down the beach from the smaller places and get JOLTED by 50 lounge chairs in rows? Well, ?

Never really have this issue. At tensing, there are more chairs/spots than people, so it works out well, and at couples, we are most always the first ones on the beach, so not an issue there either.

I guess I take the mindset of not really caring what someone else is doing, and will not let another person doing something as trivial as saving a chair ruin my vacation.

I can't sit in a beach chair for more than 30 minutes. It's why I love Negril.

This. It's just too much stress to worry about a chair. I guess the places I frequent are filled with like-minded individuals. If I go for a swim, I might leave my stuff on my chair. If I go for a walk, I'll take it with me. When I get back I'll find a new chair - or maybe stop somewhere else for a change of scenery. But again, it seems we avoid the places where chair saving takes place.

If we need to sit that bad......... a few bucks (poco) will find us all the chairs we need........so many things other people do....let them do it.............

Can't say I've ever experience chair saving in Negril. Lotsa chairs and beach to go around :)
Drove me crazy in Mexico though when you would go out at 6 in the morning (to actually be there) and there wasn't a chair without a towel/book/hat on it to save it and then you don't see the people come out to use them until late morning, if they bothered to come out at all. I mean really people?

Exactly!

We are usually one of the first people on the beach or at the pool, The chair's we "save" we use all day long, and if it ticks people off that we went to lunch and kept our stuff on the chairs.. Well too bad so sad I guess.

What is the point of this thread? Just to stir the pot? Or is this an actual issue?

Surprised you don't know the A/I protocol. Rocks are for saving the chairs for the NEXT day .... lol

I've put my towels out at 6 AM...but that's because it's with me! I'm one of those folks who goes out at sunrise. Lots of times, I'll be out before they have even set chairs up. I love to be on the beach at that time.

The folks who pay the guard to save the chair that you wanted so they dont have to get up to save so now YOU will never get that "best" chair. Thats all,no life or death here. You guys should one day realize,,,there is the typed word from a million miles away and then there is the Real world when you get to Negril. I dont FRET about the chair. Trust me my friends,I know how to have fun in Negril.... But youre te same who say OH MY did that guy inquire abd "working women" oh my....Oh Dear did some guy asked if there are vegetables products to smoke there.OH DEAR?

LOL! If you are not staying at the resort where chairs are being saved why do you care?

Great thread Fred, saving chairs is ridiculous and rude only people that do it will be offended by your insightful offerings. I have never gotten upset over the matter but my eyes hurt from rolling them every time I see it. Thread on my friend!

Well, Gary & I spent a week at Catcha in July & had 4 couples who were all together staying there as well. They kept towels in the best spots the entire week. Never moved them. It was, IMO, extremely rude. I can promise it didn't ruin my trip, but when you are staying at a small resort like Catcha, acting as if you own the place is not right. Being somewhat thoughtful of others seems to have left the building these days .... However, I prefer to be called Pollyanna, so I will see nothing but rainbows & butterflies at the end of the day ... (big grin)!!!

And Fred ... maybe I don't know you well enough, and some really do seem to attack you, but I personally did not see your original post as stirring the pot. I actually find you quite entertaining. Just sayin'

My POINT is,,,I just said IT..I was never Wound up on it..I get up early so I get chairs..I'm not running for Mayor here....So if I am Wound UP?
