It's About The Sea Star !

We arrived at the Sea Star late and were tired and hungry.
The kitchen was quick to solve our hunger and it was so good. I just love the buns they use for the sandwiches, yummy.
After a drink or two at the bar it was off to bed.

Early everyday the staff set up the little breakfast table and the people stroll into the dining area to get the best treat of the day. .....Morining HUGS.:o
Yes the staff have a way of making everyone welcome and missed. They greet all the guest here with a big smile and a hug...lol

I'd like to state right now I'm not a cliff person, I love the beach. We choose to stay here because of the staff and it's a great place to eaze into the sun and just slow down to island speed.

CaptD was one of the first boardies we met this reach and have seen him about a couple of times as he's trying to sort out some water pump problems at his project site. Very nice guy , but I don't think this is much of a vacation as it is a work trip for him.

Up Date on Shaky ( for all who no him).
I am happy to report some Great People from the Sea Star have been busy helping him get a HOUSE of his own, Yes a place were he will be safe and taken care of for the rest of his life. How Cool is That.
He has work to be done and several people have been helping finish off the tile work. Big Up.
He has a TV and everything, as he tells me with so much joy.
His place has good locks and a gate, so his stuff will also be safe.
It's a stones throw from the front gate so he's always looked after too.


Tonight is Saturday so this Sea Star party is on. I
If you've never been your missing the best time you can find on a Saturday in Negril.
Rob and Lisa will be there from Real Negril. com for the broadcast and we'll give ya a shout out on the camera...lol

I know quite a few are "Sooon Come" .....so you know where to find us, mon

Rasta Stan...ask Chris, or even Rob, for that matter....if three is a charm, or will the power hold out this Saturday...on thw 23rd(Sat) in the MIDDLE of the webcast/show...the lights went out....Chris and his staff did a bang up job to get the generators going, but in the mean time the band was relieved early by the presence of the Seastar drummers...who rescued the vibe with the "power" of the beat...seems the whole west end lost power that night, and in the morning we saw on t.v. that it was global "earth out", or some such thing, which....I DO BELIEVE was a major coincidence...Anyway the NEXT Saturday, we were shopping at Times Square and POOF, power goes out at like 2pm(Times Square has no gennies, btw)..we were told by our hotel's GM that something had happened and taken the WHOLE ISLAND out...possibly a power plant incident....we were thinking..hey, we fly out in the a.m.(well, maybe not)...No such good fortune..power was back by morning..We were also thinking, if THIS is the apocolyptic event that those preppers on TV talk of, what a nice place to be stuck for the rest of our natural lives!!!!...Maybe the lights will hold out tonight!

Is Shakey an elderly man that works for Seastar? Sounds like they are taking good care of him which is awesome

Awesome news about Shaky! Truly a story that makes me hope one day all vulnerable adults are looked after with such compassion. Fun to hear how proud and excited he is...thanks for passing the word.

Thanks for sharing the great news about Shakey. Such a sweet heart he is and that smile! When we saw him in December he looked soooooo good and as always was so happy. If you see him around Seastar buy him a Pepsi and take him out on the dance floor.....two of his favorite things! What a sweet kid! So good to see him doing well and for all the folks at Seastar that look out for him....awesome!

Don't worry about Shakey getting his Pepsi Marley 9808, he has plenty of people who look out for him....lol
Betty and I take him to the beach for the day and make sure he's fed good, Shakey can eat...lol
Many longtime Sea Star people take him to the beach.
I can't help him out with the dancing myself , but he was up enjoying himself last night.

Such great news about Shakey! He is such a sweetheart and kind soul. And boy does he love to dance....He also enjoys playing pool. One visit, I asked him to play a game and it was amazing that with a little time and patience...his hand control was improving. The joy on his face when he did make contact with the pool ball was truly priceless. Big ups to all at SS as well as ALL the guests that time time to make a young man's day better.

Shakey is a sweet young man that lives across the road from Seastar. I don't believe that anyone really knows what Shakey's condition is, or how old he is. (I would guess him to be in his late 20's) You can safely assume that he got his nick-name because he shakes.( I have been told that his real name is Conrad)
He has no education that I am aware of, but is able to carry on a conversation (although sometimes hard to decipher his patois), and he has charmed all that know him.
He is a gentle soul and has a smile that could light up a room! Chris (Seastar owner) has always tried to look out for Shakey, making sure that he was fed and clean. He has employed Shakey by paying him to rake, or pick up garbage on the lane - Chris is trying to teach him that you need to work to get the things you need, like food and clothes.
If you stay at Seastar or are there on a Saturday night - you will no doubt see Shakey. Some time they let him get up on stage with his harmonica - he can't really play - but boy does he have fun!!

His smile is one of the best things I have ever seen, that's why I will dance, or buy a pepsi or do just about anything to see it. It will melt your heart and touch your soul.
In fact, it was the first thing that made me truly love and respect Chris, the way he looks after, takes care of, and teaches Shakey. After that, the way he runs his hotel and treats his guests was just a close second reason to love the guy!

That could be correct - his symptoms are similar. Chris had talked of wanting to get Shakey to a Dr to try and find out what, if anything, could be done to help him.
I have seen his shaking lessen if he has a few puffs of herbal supplement. :)

Great picture. Shakey is a real sweetheart, always happy to see the guests at Seastar. In addition to Pepsi he likes the banana smoothies. He wanted to make pumpkin soup when we were there in February and gave me the list of ingredients. I convinced our tour guide to taking us shopping after out trip to Nine Mile. We stopped in Lucie and gathered the ingredient. Unfortunately Shakey had gone up in the hills to visit his Mom and didn't return for a few days. I ended up giving the groceries to another family in the neighbour and they were happy to make the soup.
