Ladies - I have a "girly" question re: Ivan's and catcha

Hey ladies and possibly gents :)

I am in a dilemma as I'm on my fourth pack, unpack, pack, unpack - get my drift?.

I, we are having a special evening at Ivan's and I want to look nice. In that respect, I mean I want to attempt to look nice (I need a miracle not a packing for holiday dilemma!!). I was thinking of wearing a dress and high heels (very high heels). Anyway, my question being, I've never been to catcha or Ivan's before so am unsure of the 'terrain' from where I'd get out of the taxi to where we'd dine. I really don't want to look like a drunken giraffe (ok a midget giraffe) with crazy legs (sober) and potentially a bust ankle if the walk isn't pro-high heels. Is Ivan's (for dinner) very causal or do people get dressed up and make a bit of an effort?. It is a very special night, hence the dress and heels but in the same breath, I don't want to feel uncomfortable (I mean self conscious) if the others ladies are in bikinis and beach cover ups and bare footed/flip flops.

Sorry this is such a random question, but I know that this site is the best for anything you need to know about Negril - love it!

LOL, don't apologize. The path to Ivan's is fine for heels, I wouldn't personally but I never wear them. At dinner you won't see anyone in bikinis & cover ups. A lot of people in shorts/t shirts and many will be more dressed up. Your table (for the 100 candles) will be set off from the others (the other side of the cove), so you won't actually be seated around any one else. If you want to get dressed up, go for it, it's your night :)

We actually watched them setting up for the 100 candles that day (there isn't normally a table over there), but that is the only picture I took for some reason...

I didn't realise it is as secluded as it is. Hubby to be might even get a kiss (in public) if it's that secluded LOL. I just hope we catch it at the right time and there isn't a sudden downpour!. I can imagine it is going to be breathtaking sitting there watching the sun melt into the sea - I'm stupidly excited now, big kid really LOL.
This time next week we will be there now, if it wasn't for the time difference (it's 6:32pm here- UK).
I'm sure the next few days are going to fly by with my obsessive pack-unpack-single-digit-fidget-isease!.

I just realized - I believe there is gravel at the entrance from the road - just a small piece and then you're good. No one will see you though so no need to look graceful :)

I can manage a bit of gravel/persuade N to give me a piggy back over that short bit <smile> I can't believe it, I thought it was Monday yesterday (N's stooooopid work shift patterns). I now have 2 sleeps. I'm looking at your table right now SazO. There is a little graval at the driveway as 2nutz said, the rest is paved. It is a bit uneven in places. I am not the steadiest person, so I tend to keep my heels a little flatter here. But that is because my balance is awful. Just keep an eye out for steps. They appear in unexpected places. You really are totally off on your own. They were setup two nights ago and it was beautiful. You are going to love it!

What is 100 candles ? I am heading back in january to Xtabi,,,,,This sounds like fun time

Ive been to CAFS many times, returning in 2015, high heels, um, I would leave them at home. You can be sexy without having to worry about breaking your ankle. Have an amazing time, you will be overwhelmed by how beautiful it is.

Thank you lawngirl, I don't wear dresses and heels much (always in riding boots and jodhpurs) as I'm always covered in mud and horse hair (nice) so I wanted to make an effort (I don't do sexy) and prove to my hubby to be that the obsession I have with shoes isn't a waste of money and wardrobe space.
I am sooooo looking forward to dinner on Sunday - I can only imagine it's going to take my breath away, soooo excited.

It is a table at the restaurant called Ivan's (Catcha falling star) where you have a 5 course meal, a bottle of bubbly and there are 100 candles lit for you. That's about as much as I know. Oh and it's highly recommended across the boards/forums. I am hoping to get some photos when I go so will be able to give you a bit more information upon my rerun to the sunny UK.

Saz ... IMO, if you aren't real great in high heel walking, I'd take a pair of flip flops just in case. Catcha is too beautiful of a place to be uncomfortable in. I personally couldn't do heels around there, but I don't do them any way. Sexy does not need to be about the shoes ... is that okay for a girl to say?! Negril is all about being comfy to me :) Gosh I love that place!!!!

I can't contain myself haha. Collected my dress yesterday and just got to "ride" my suitcase down the stairs and throw it in the car. Looking forward to a dirty banana at Catcha (someone else mentioned it also). Sounds yummy

My husband surprised me with the 100 candles dinner on our 5th anniversary in October. Attached are some pictures. It was amazing and something I will always remember!!!

I am short and clutzy and wear heeled flip flops to Ivans. There are paths to walk. Dressing up is fine. Anything you wear in Negril is fine. Have a good meal and ask to be seated seaside not inside.

Congrats on your wedding, seems like you & I suffer from the same obsessive pack-unpack-single-digit-fidget-isease (lol) last trip I started packing 4months before our trip and every week or so I would repack. This year it's gonna be even tougher as I will be one bag down my husband wants to bring his golf clubs. I have found that about 1/3 rd of the stuff I bring I didn't need but I would rather have it and not need it than the other way around. You will love Ivan's it's a beautiful setting. Le us know how it went.
