We've brought down a decent cooler as a piece of luggage while in transit and a cooler while in the Happy Place. That system worked well for us.

I read that there is a seasonal embargo on checkin in coolers as luggage this time of year? Has anyone experienced that?

Ask your driver or another friend on the island to borrow one while there.....years ago we used to need one as we stayed in a room with out a fridge and our driver always loaned us one for a nice tip......no need to drag one down.....leave your worries behind.
