Anyplace in Negril where I can do a Crossfit WOD
Hi All,
I'll be staying at the newly renovated Azul Sensatori Negril (formerly Beaches Sandy Bay), from March 5th to the 15th.
That also just happens to be right smack in the middle of the Crossfit Games 2014. http://games.crossfit.com/
I'm participating, or will try my best under the circumstances. (video submissions are accepted)
Typical game equipment would be
- Barbell (that can accommodate up to 135 pounds)
- A box that is 24 inches in height
- A 20 pound medicine ball
- A pull-up bar
And a set of gymnastic rings, however I don't expect this to be available.
Anyone know of a gym of "Crossfit" friendly resort, any help would be appreciated.

why not just plank/run/burpee and do bodyweight exercises while your there, keep it simple and pack a jump rope!

Yes I will absolutely do that, when not participating in the games, but the games dictate what I have to use so, I'm hoping it's burpies and jump ropes but I can't predict what the workout will be.

To answer your question, there's a couple Gyms in Negril. I have never been in one though.
good luck in the games. I am a Crossfit Noob.. Only about a month in. I havent even Rx'd a WOD.

get some good surf shoes and run in the sand on 7 mile one way, turn around and run 2 feet out in calf deep water, everything including your neck muscles will get a super intense workout.............even at a steady jog its a lot, especially in the heat!!!!! remember first rule of a good workout.........survive!

Take it from me crossfit is highly addictive, you either love it or hate it. Took me 6 months before I tackled my first WOD RX.

Yes went there 4 years ago and loved to run barefoot on the beach, but I should have used surf shoes as you suggested, got nasty blisters on the soles of my feet.

Couples Swept Away has a good gym and you can pay to get in without staying there. I've worked out there a few times. They have everything but the rings.
