So we check early and they will not return my money!!! Never stay at banana shouts, They SUCK!
It's not run down or in need of repair!!!
When they lose power, it's normally the whole area.
BS is a great wee place to stay.
They've not had a break in for years to my knowledge.
If the room smelt of piss, I would look close to home as the cleaners there are the best.
The manager and his lady live in their own place on site, they are not taking up room.
And if his brother was staying there, how do you know he wasn't paying.
I would recommend you stay at Couples or Beaches next time, that way you needn't leave the resort.

Thanks all for the positive comments on banana shout. We are there early January based on this board. Negril has many places to suit many needs.... Hoping we will be thrilled with BS. Looking forward to the vibe experienced by all but original poster. Hoping to post very positive thoughts after our stay!
Like I said... Not every place in JA fits the needs of all. To each his-her own.
See y'all in Negri in under 20 days!!!!!!

My wife and I stayed there 1 year for a week, loved it, Yes a bit rustic but the vive was great and we always felt safe, esp. since the owners dog adopted us and sleep on the balcony every night, it was like having a room that came with a gaurd dog.Loved the stay.We spent most of every day just lying in the hammcoks reading or hanging out by the cliff having a few drinks

I stayed at BS last April. It was a little rustic compared to some places, especially when the water ran out. But the staff did what they could to make it better until the water truck arrived.

Staying at a small place can be a blessing or a curse, depending on personalities.....ours & theirs!!!!!

Back in the day when Mark and Ilene where the owners of both the mountain and seaside properties the place was my second home! But only because of the fellow Manzie that took care of the place. I will always have respect for Marc and his wife. But Manzie made Banana Shout worth the trip. I would be rare day that I do not have a memory of one of the many times I have visited Jamaica that does not involve my friend! I have been lucky in life by those that I have meant! Knowing Manzie makes me a very lucky man!

Visited this place little more than a week ago. Given tour by manager. Very laid back place. Rustic. Probably should know Negril and its ways a little bit to truly enjoy stay here. Very nice people maintaining place and staying there. Plan on staying there next visit. Loved the vibes. And the view.

I stayed there last Jan for a couple of nights and it was exactly as expected. It sounds like the place isn't exactly for you. . .isolated, reasonable, beautiful spot, safe. Nothing like a 2 hour breakfast at LTU and a casual stroll back to the yard. There are quite a few places that are a bit more polished than Banana. And as mentioned, I can't believe they wouldn't fix any problems if you just brought it up to them.

I love the wood carvings! Ashmond was carving a broken tree while we were there. I asked if he could carve a mermaid for my collection. I will try to post a pic to show you how beautiful she is....& at a very reasonable cost.Name: image.jpg
