how are you sending it? regular mail I wouldn't send it. maybe a travelers check could be cashed at the bank if its actually received by the intended person. does that person have a bank account (are they Jamaican).

*ass-uming* that this isn't some kind of '..pleasant surprise..' mailing,
and you have discussed this money-matter with the recipient,
who is Jamaican bank savy, and knows the procedures down there,

i suggest talking with them (via phone/email/etc) to see what they want to do regarding *sending* the money.

my gut tells me they'll probably opt for WesternUnion.

The quicker way would be Western Union or Xoom it cost money one is cheaper. As for sending through the mail I wouldn't.

Well, yes they are jamaican. Dont know if they have a bank account. I wanted to suprise him. But maybe Western Union would be better. I just wasnt sure if you can cash a money order there at a bank.

Perhaps they could cash a Western Union money order at a Western Union office, but must probably will need to have two forms of ID.

I sent one of my friends in Ja. $50 via reg. mail they never received it. That's why asked those ? I just wanted to surprise them as well. Now $50 going missing wasn't going to make any difference to me but it pissed me off. There is no house to house del. so they would have had to go to Post office and I would say that some one @ the post office took it. I would say western union would be the way to go in this case. I tell my Jamaican friends the only way I am giving them $$ is in person because I hate paying $ to send $.
