    Glistening Waters [Luminous Lagoon]

I am planning to take my March guests from Europe to see tha Glistening Waters. Any advises, tips, comments will be appreciated. I guess it is about 2 hours drive from Negril, so we would be back between 10 and 11 PM.

Glistening Waters can be great or a washout, depending on the weather. You can read lots of reviews on TA Falmouth site.

I have been to Glistening Waters a couple of times and it was great fun. It's best if it has been a sunny day in Falmouth - those little bioluminescent guys give a better show after a day in the sun! Also, better when there aren't any cruise ships in. Captain Jerry is great! So animated. It is truly a beautiful natural phenomenon! You'll not see anything like it anywhere! I would recommend you take a chance and go for it. There is a dandy little resto on the site where you get the tour boats - good service and pretty good food. You can swim in the water at the end (totally awesome! Capt. Jerry told my husband to just fall off the back of the boat into the water and it looked like a bazillion light sticks exploded around him! You can't see the people swimming in the water, just their outline - it's amazing!). The bottom is pretty mucky, so you might want to have water shoes, and be able to take a shower ASAP when you get back to you hotel. No danger or anything, its just kind of an ookie feeling after a bit.)

It's probably my favorite place in Jamaica and would take anyone there, of any age.

I've been to Glistening Waters in Falmouth several times. I would recommend staying the night in Fallmouth after your excursion, and drive back to Negril the next morning. There's a 3star hotel right next to Glistening Waters called Fisherman's Inn. That way you can shower and relax after your tour. There is a fellow named Mooney in Fallmouth who will take you on a private boat excursion on the bay if you'd prefer not to go with the cattle-drive boat. Mooney can also alert you to some fine Jamaican yard food in Fallmouth. If you do spend the night in Fallmouth, you might try to plan your trip so that you can hit the Fallmouth Market day in the morning. (sorry, can't remember which day of the week the market day is). On your ride back to Negril, you'll be driving right by Scotchies Jerk Center before you get to Montego Bay ..... It's definitely worth your while to stop for some of their famous jerk, breadfruit, yam, etc.

Best to go when it is not a bright moon out.
