Sunset on the Cliffs
We stayed at Sunset on the Cliffs two years ago, and are considering booking again for mid January. (our traveling companions have already booked)
I read a December review on Trip Advisor from someone who had booked there and upon arrival was told that the restaurant, bar and office were closing at 5PM that day and she was being moved to the beach.
It was unclear whether the resort itself was closing or not.
Wondering if anyone has recent knowledge of whether or not they are still open.
We've been to Negril multiple times, and much prefer the cliffs, and would rather find different accommodation than arriving and being moved to the beach.
Thanks in advance for your help.
13 sleeps. Woo Hoo

Re: Sunset on the Cliffs
Hey Beefer..I've stayed at Sunset on the Cliffs for the last 6 years for 5 weeks at a time & my next stay is coming up end of Jan. If they closed the place I'd know..since I can call the owner June Romeo a good friend. If you have any doubts just email her at sunsetonthecliffs@yahoo.com & get the word from her. Can't wait to get my butt there & see all the resort staff!!

Re: Sunset on the Cliffs
Phew! Thanks, Rooster! Had a little panic attack there for a minute - we are booked there for our 3rd stay 01 Feb. It's such a lovely spot! We had been dealing with Mr. Henry, but do you think we could introduce ourselves to June Romeo? That place is amazing. Seemingly little "management" and the place runs like a charm! The staff deserve high praise to their boss!
I do wonder when that TA report was made. We had a similar experience, but it was in July - uber low season in all Negril and many places close or close off rooms - and they thought we would be better served at the beach site - we declined the offer and stayed on the cliffs - no bar, no resto - and had the vacation of a lifetime! It was awesome! The staff bent over backwards for us, provided a fridge, a cooler, a coffee maker - we had a great time! For a few days we had the whole resort to ourselves! There are plenty of stores and restos within walking distance. We did fine.
For a summer off-season stay it was awesome! Can't wait to see Melvin again! And Millicent .... oh, just all of them!

Re: Sunset on the Cliffs
Interesting. I liked Sunset on The Cliffs, too, on the one time when I split my stay between there and Seastar Inn. The security was a little iffy, and this was also my first-ever experience with Negril water-pressure issues, but otherwise I did enjoy my stay. The ac was great.
After four days off just a dribble shower, I REALLY appreciated high-water-pressure from that point forward, especially in Negril.
Mi soon come.

Re: Sunset on the Cliffs
Mr Henry is a good guy too. I say why not introduce yourselves to June. The Yoga group will be there the middle 2 weeks of Feb. & June is always there then. She emails or calls me every fall to get my dates for my stay so I couldn't ask for more personal service than that!! I love this little gem too..it's the third property a the 24 years that I've been coming to Negril & always in the cliffs I rent a motorcycle for my stay so I hit the beach everyday. Happened upon it by accident...yes it maybe a bit dated to some people but the closeness from rooms to ocean is what sold me..any closer & your in it! Love the whole property layout & even when to place is full you just don't see many people. Your right about the resort operating at low season..it's that way for a reason. Never had any water pressure issues & have never felt a security issue either. Now that they put the fence up front a couple years ago it's even more secure.

Re: Sunset on the Cliffs
There is no fence. Just a chain that ocassionally is drawn but usually rests on the ground without someone out front. My friend's lap top and all his money was stolen while staying there.

Re: Sunset on the Cliffs
If you really know the property you know what I'm talking about in regards to the tall fence with yes....the driveway entrance/exit with the chain you refered to. As far as the theft you refer to I've heard these stories before & most are blown out rumors with a new twist to it each time it's told. For instance..I was there during two such "issues" with a laptop & cell phone stolen by staff..turned out to be the local girl hired by the guest..if you know what I mean...wink wink...that took them. And the other was guests that had their camera stolen out of their room that didn't lock their room door when they left. Turned out the camera was never taken out of the room..if fact they are the ones who just couldn't remember where they last had it being in big time party mode...first said it was taken from their room & admitted not locking the room. Do you leave you house unlocked when you leave it? Do you invite strangers into your house & let them have free reign of it? Now..it's still not right I agree but let's face it Common Sense should be used anywhere & everywhere when traveling.

Re: Sunset on the Cliffs
We were at the bar there Wednesday 12/18 in the afternoon for some red stripes. Very quiet there, but the bar was open. Did not see anyone else on the property.
