Re: Negril International Hospital, donates medical equipment to Jamaican hospitals

In 2013 Governor General Sir Allen engaged the support of the Negril International Hospital to obtain well-needed medical equipment for hospitals across Jamaica.

Through the efforts of the Negril International Hospital board members Bill Tingling, Dr. David Garwood, Elaine Bradley, Dennis Hawthorne, Winthrope Wellington, Mr. Herman Levy from Medgive Foundation and other collaborative efforts, we provided Suction Pumps, Bone Rasp, Pulse Oximeter, Surgical Pillows, Thigh Garments, Catheter Trays and several other medical supplies to Jamaican hospitals.

It is with this in mind that the Governor-General publicly acknowledged the partnerships established with the NCB Foundation and Negril International Hospital. These, he said, were driven by their strong sense of corporate social responsibility. The NCB Foundation donated a desktop aneroid blood pressure unit and the three suction machines, and the Negril International Hospital donated a Hysterectomy Unit along with other medical supplies.

Sir Patrick Allen used the opportunity to call on members of corporate Jamaica and the Diaspora "to assist our hospitals in their quest to deliver and maintain quality services."

From The Gleaner

ANNOTTO BAY Hospital in St Mary held a special ceremony on Wednesday to celebrate a visit by Governor General Sir Patrick Allen and his wife, Lady Allen.

The visit, which ended the couple's annual hospital tour provided an opportunity to announce high-profile donations the hospital had recently received. These included a desktop aneroid blood pressure unit and the three suction machines from the NCB Foundation, and a Hysterectomy Unit and medical supplies from the Negril International Hospital brought great joy.

Courts Jamaica Limited, in association with the Negril International Hospital and through the partnership of Governor General Sir Patrick and Lady Allen, recently donated a little under $2 million dollars worth of much-needed equipment to the Percy Junor Hospital in Spaldings, Clarendon.

Earl McLaughlin, chief executive officer of the hospital, said the presentations will advance their services tremendously and improve efficiency. "This donation will go a far way to improve the services we offer; we have been in need for years and, with the coagulation machine, we can now accommodate more persons needing that service instead of sending them to Mandeville," said McLaughlin.
