Thanks for the trip report, seven more sleeps for us. I stayed Travellers when they built the pool table. The staff and Winston were good to us. Do they still have the mechanical piano player in the lobby? Mabey well run in to you on the beach for a cold one have a great time. Please keep the photos coming they help melt the snow here.

We we really didn't have anything planned for our Monday but that soon changed. I got up early as always and got our chairs set up on the beach and wandered back to the room. Its pretty awesome that I take 10 steps out the door turn left and walk another 20 or so paces and I am on the beach in my chair!
When I got back to the room I was feeling a little hungry so we decided we would just do some basic breakfast in the form of toast. One thing I noticed is that the bread we purchased is about three times as dense as the stuff we get back home. Holy only needed a piece of toast and I was feeling full. While were were snacking on our breakfast Brenda decided that she didn't like how stiff the bed was so she wanted to see if we could go out and get one of those foam mattresses to put on the bed. She figured we could leave it with Doc when we left and he could make good use of it while he stored it for our next reach. So we call up Doc as we needed to buy a cell phone anyway so we ring him up and he will be on his way in 10 minutes.
He arrives as promised and we make our way down to Digicel and pick up a phone and credits. The machine at the store wasn't working so the girl could sell me the phone but no credits. I batted my brown eyes at her and she said she would run next door and get me some minutes. Took a bit of time but we got what we needed and headed out. We wanted a few other things from the market so we made our way up there. There is a real egg shortage in Negril for some reason and we couldn't find any for the second day. As well no one in town had the foam and didn't really seem to understand Brenda when she asked about it(more about that later). So we decided what the heck lets jump in the car and head up to Sav La Mar as there are way more shops and stuff there and a better chance of getting what she needed. Plus Doc knew his local market in Sheffield had eggs and we could grab some on the way back to Negril.
It was an interesting drive to Sav as we dodged potholes and bikers. After a 25 minute ride through the country side we arrive. The first thing I notice about Sav is that its bigger with more people and at this time of day it is busy! We go to a few shops and I quickly notice another thing...no one is trying to sell us anything....drag us into their shops....and for once no one tried to sell me drugs lol! We tried a few shops and we still were having no luck. Finally at the last place we look as Doc and Brenda were coming back to the car I am thinking to myself...hey what if we are asking for the 'wrong' thing. So as Doc pokes his head into the window I give a better description of what we want. He immediately hoots and says he knows where to get it. In the store they were just in. So heres the deal he though we were looking for Styrofoam not a 'sponge'. LOL!! I bet every shop in Sav is thinking there is some crazy blonde lady going around trying to find the inner workings of packing boxes to sleep on! That's soooo funny! Before we leave Doc shows us the old seaport in Sav. Seems like a couple of block of Sav used to be Sea and it was reclaimed some time ago with a sea wall. That was interesting.
On the ride back he told us about some of the history of the BIG houses on the side of the road and I was eating up the stories like crazy! We stopped in Sheffield and as reported they had eggs so we grabbed a couple of dozen just to be on the safe side. We headed back into Negril and decided that we should go have something to eat. Doc suggested Juicy J's but when we got there it was being renovated so nothing there. We then went over to the Sea View/Corner Bar. I have to tell you I had one of the best meals ever in Jamaica at that place. We ordered the Jerk Chicken and Rice for 500J and it was awesome. So cheap and there was enough for us to pack up and take home with us afterwards. If you are in town give them a try. They are fast the food is good and its priced right!
We came back to the resort and hung out with Doc. We got in touch with our friend Statement to see if he was in town which he was. He's a drummer in one of those drum groups and he was drumming later on in the evening. We also ran into Beverly the resident massage lady at the resort. She is a good friend of our friend DK so we chatted with her for a while. Brenda was starting to feel stiff because of the bed so she got a massage right on the beach as well. We chatted more and waited for Statement to arrive.
He came by later and we spent some time talking philosophy and other things. He live in Canada for a time and was in Brenda's circle of friends. He's working hard but times are tough in Jamaica and he shared some stories about what was going on. He had to go but said he would be back later in the week. We were happy as we have had a chance to spend time with our most important Jamaican friends in the first couple of days here.
Brenda was getting tired so we decided to have chill evening and we went back to the room to watch TV.
This is where I will interject something. Brenda has been dealing with Cancer for the last three or four years. We found out the week before we came that when we go back to Canada she has to get radiation treatments on a lymph node in her neck. She's had them before so we know what to expect. This trip is all about recharging our batteries so we are fresh and ready to deal with things when we get back. I don't say this to illicit sympathy or anything but just to frame why we sometimes just relax instead of party through the evening. As always it is what is and we do what we do.
DK just messaged me. They are on the plane. My sister(from another mister) and her boyfriend will be here later tonight. The crew will be complete and business is about to pick up!
Check you all later my friends have a great day!![]()

Wonderful pictures Crusher. Sounds like your monday was a busy and purposeful. I am glad Brenda has a bed topper now. Last march when we were in Negril I had had surgery for breast cancer. We didn't know the results of the pathology before we left so we decided to make that trip a recharge and get rested trip. Sure enough I did require radiation but was all rested up and ready to fight. Good luck to you both and recharge, recharge, recharge

Great report so far. Good details, good photos. Keep it up, my friend. I left the day you arrive, would have loved to hang with ya.
Thanks for a great update. Enjoy!
Wishing Brenda well! Our first trip to negril (2006) was after a year from hell dealing with chemo and radiation. I also had lymph node involvement. All is well now and I hope it will be for Brenda too!
