Spend the afternoon in Bluefields Bay????

Last time I was in Jamaica, I drove pst Bluefield Bay. It looked beautiful from the road. Returning to Negril in a few weeks and was thinking of going to Bluefield to spend the day at the beach. Has anyone been there? Is the beach nice? Any good places for lunch?

Haven't been to Bluefields Beach in over 10 years. My recollection is that is narrower than Long Bay. It was fairly quiet the day I was there, but there were plenty of Vendor shacks for beverages and food. If I get a chance today I'll post some pics.

    Enjoy,

We prefer Belmont beach over Bluefields because of the nice sandy beach. We find Bluefields to be too rocky. We usually venture here for at least 4 days out of our month trip. It's only about 10 mins from bluefields. And it's right across the road from Peter Tosh's grave. Nice bar right across from the beach our friend clocking owns it. And we highly recommend eating some good food at Robert's just up the road a little.Name: 100_1787.jpg

I travelled through Bluefields once as you did and wanted to return. The water is such a lovely shade of blue there. We went back a trip or two later. I would agree that it is rocky as JamaicaMary pointed out. I remember walking out of the water and losing my footing on a rock which caused me to have to put the other foot down quickly with all my weight on it. When I planted that foot, it landed on a rock too. I had a stone bruise on the bottom of my foot which was pretty painful for a couple of weeks. I also remember there being a lot of thick grass (seaweed?) in the water. Also, the water was much rougher there that afternoon than it typically is in Negril. Belmont Beach looks really beautiful. Makes me want to check it out sometime.
