Cross post-guest houses in Ocho Rios?

I'm posting this on the Ocho Rios board as well, but it doesn't get as much traffic. Looking for a decent place to stay (safe, clean) for two nights in mid February. We are staying one night at Toby's, and six at Rondell Village, but in between we will be in the Ocho Rios area, exploring. Recommendations are welcome, and I'm looking at 150 or less a night, meals excluded. Thoughts?

Skyauction.com has historically had good deals on Rooms on The Beach in Ochi (Ocho Rios)....but you have a larger budget.

Personally I would not suggest my own mother stay in Ochi...Negril beach vendor pressure times 1000.... There are several options lesser found on the internet all around Ochi or at least away from downtown Ochi. In Priory, a couple miles west of town I've rented a 2 bedroom cottage on the ocean for $35or$50 a night. Maybe look closer to Falmouth where you can explore the cockpits(interior of the island), caves, that glowing water stuff outside of Mobay, Ochi if you desire, the Martha Brae river rafting thingy...nice bed and breakfast option over there at Cher's.

I always liked the Village Hotel in downtown Ocho Rios - breakfast was included with the price of the room the last time I stayed there, not sure if it still is though. Its across the road from what used to be the Jamaica Grande - not sure what that's called now. Its not a guesthouse but I always enjoyed staying there. You are in walking distance of everything downtown.

They don't allow the beach vendors on the beach anymore in Ochi, unless they changed it back. If you really want to see Ochi, try the Rooms on the Beach. If you're interested in touristy things, there is a lot to do but you will have to pay for these excursions for sure. And Rooms on the Beach is OK .. unless they have renovated, it's not like Rooms in Negril.
As for the Village Hotel, it's in downtown Ochi, not across the road from the Jamaica Grande which is further up the road.
    Good luck.

Pineapple court looks like it might work. Heart is not set on Ochi proper, but I've never been to the north coast.

I think the Jamaica Grande is now called Sunset Grande or something similar - its right on the beach. My husband had to go to a seminar there but we chose to stay at the Village Hotel instead since we were staying down for a couple of weeks instead of just the week of the seminar - plus it was much cheaper than the Jamaica Grande. He only had to walk about a block maybe to the seminar.

Was just in Ochi for 8 nights. Normally go the Negril. Loved sightseeing over there. got to see hawkbill turtle hatching at Oracabessa and toured all the way to Port Antonio. Beautiful wild coastline. I think it was Rooms that was there in the harbor in Ochi with a beach that looked really nice, but the view appeared to be directly toward the not-too-distant docked cruise ships. Drove past Chrisann's a few times which looked lovely and was outside of the Ochi hustle bustle.
