No cell service?

My husband and I were trying to call our driver upon arrival to MBJ and found we couldn't get service. Finally a police officer asked us who we were trying to reach and when we told him he called him for us! (He knows him) Anyway I was wondering if this has happened to anyone here. The no service part I mean.
Ps our driver lends a phone for our visit once we get on the bus.

I had that happen several times. Even though I had lots of minutes on the phone I had to add 100J to activate it. All the accrued minutes were there. I top up every 90 days to keep my phone number but I make sure to top up just before I leave for JA so it will work when I arrive.

You can redeem it no more frequently than 100J per month (or can be used at the Digicel store when getting a new phone?). Look on the Digicel site for the info to access it.

actually Digicel customers a couple weeks ago couldn't get all der calls for a couple days....
it's alright now.......Lime customers last night couldn't call digicel customers cause of an upgrade to Lime system..

Not all US cell providers have available service on the island. Sounds like you were using your stateside phone.
