Have stayed there many times (50) over the years, often for weeks at a time. As a single female & one who keeps a low profile... no ground floor, always 2nd or 3rd. Pros & cons to both ground floor & upper floor rooms. More privacy up, lots of foot traffic if you're on the garden downstairs. I've also known people who have had items swiped from their patios (ironically, most frequently by other tourists - go figure) even when they're in their rooms. Also more likely to have a break in. These occur anywhere in Negril from time to time but ground floor access is easier w/ the way the property is set up. When there are mosquitoes... they don't usually fly up to 2nd & 3rd floor rooms, lol. They hang around water & foliage. As for hauling luggage... I don't so that's not an issue. If you have joint or knee issues the ground floor is better. If you exercise common sense a ground floor room is safe. I know Jean normally books women traveling solo in 2nd & 3rd floor rooms but will honor a ground floor request. I know several regulars who stay solo & on the ground floor but there are good reasons for that (health issues mainly). Hope this helps. It's a great property. I'll be there soon.
