"When I feel like dancing, I dance. I don't care if anyone else is dancing or if everyone is laughing at me.. I dance.."
Not slang, but there is an expression that I learned last year.
'The longer the linger, the deeper the butter!"
On it's face, it means that the longer the butter sits on the bread, the deeper it sinks in, but of course the expression is not about bread and butter.
I heard this at the Digicel store in MoBay last year when it was taking a very long time to buy minutes. One Jamaican man said this to another man in patois. They both cracked up and the young Jamaican woman loading our minutes blushed as much as a dark woman can. After telling me what everyone was laughing at, the older Jamaican man went on to say, "Especially dark bread!"
