    Home Sweet Home

I just booked this place on hotels.com. Never having stayed there before, don't know why other than it's right on sea.
Now I'm reading really bad reviews and something that the new management is gone and the previous owner is back. The latest review on TA says they have lost the liquor license and that there is NO management on the grounds and no food after 5pm.....What should I do? I'm really worried now. Does anyone know if you can switch hotels on hotels.com? I am going to read their policy right now but just asking if any knows of hand.

    What should you do?... Relax.

You are in the middle of the best food in the world! Go right and you have Teddys. Keep going and you have pewees. Keep going and there is another place on the left (the old Choices). Go left and you have Jenny's, canoe, chicken lavish, swordfish... So many others.

We stayed at home sweet home and to be honest the entire time we didn't buy one meal or drink there. Lots of bars around so no worries on the booze thing either.

Have fun n Stick it out. Let me know if I can help further

Murph is right, lots of great places to eat within a 5 minute walk.
I checked the place out last visit and it looks pretty nice including the fact that they offered a discount on the rooms for cash.

Hey guys thanks.....I know there's a lot of food around & I always have the option of going to my friends for dinner.....My first reaction was F-it I'm on the cliffs to stare at the sea (& I'm in Negril). But what worries me is the poster said the grounds weren't up to par ie. broken hot tub, run down rooms, some tv's didn't work.
I'm a creature of habit, always been Negril Treehouse or SeaStar! I don't usually experiment....I'll find out what my options are....I was just excited to stay on the sea for a decent price, I should've just extended SeaStar anyway, I'll see what's up.

I was surprised to see that TA review, so I did some investigation. It turns out that the new owners that took over last January have left Negril, and now Charlie (the previous owner) is back managing the property. Charlie posted this on the HSH facebook page, but didn't go into details. That said, I would take that TA review with a grain of salt. I stayed at HSH twice when Charlie previously owned the property and thought the rooms were fine, then. The new owners made many improvements to the property and it has only gotten nicer. I find it hard to believe that the place has become "dumpy" over the course of a month. If the restaurant and bar are not operating, that is one thing. I would e-mail HSH to see if that will be the case when you stay there. I'm guessing that Charlie can find someone to run the kitchen pretty quickly, and has done so already.

I have stayed at HSH 3 times. I was just there in Nov/Dec. Everything is operating! I just spoke with Charlie. You will enjoy this Michele!! I have loved the place no-matter who has been running it. There are amazing ocean views! Lot's of places to walk to and there are a couple of taxi driver's there to get you around safely.(Chris or 'name removed as driver is not a legal taxi)
The food is very good & I ate most of my meals there. I am planning on returning in the spring. Let me know how you like it, I don't think you will regret it! Feel free to talk to HSH directly! Tina or Charlie will help you out.
    Soon Come...

Sorry to disagree but my husband and I stayed there when it was in transition between Charlie & new owners. Neither were on site. Everything was fine as far as price, payment, etc. but there was issues with safety in my opinion. We only stayed 3 nights but gates were left wide open at night with no security or any employees in sight for 2 nights. The last night the gate was closed but we were able to reach in and unlock and open it ourselves. We never came in later than 9:30 or 10PM. One employee followed us around asking for money the whole time. I did not feel safe there at all.

We have stayed at hsh under Kim and John as well as Charlie over the last three years and are going back in a couple of weeks . I have sent Tina a e mail to see if in fact the restaurant and bar are open or not. I talked with Charlie and Tina last week and neither mentioned this. I will let you know if she gets back to me. Have never had an issue there under either owner Charlie is a great guy.

Thank You Guys!! I feel a little better but concerned about security now. I will have my friends come by so they all know who I'm hooked up with hopefully that will be enough.
Maybe I can request an upper floor. And if it's that bad I can always go stay at my friends house, which is where I'm going to have most of my dinners.

I stayed at HSH the first week of December. I am still in touch with the previous owners. I was told that Charlie has leased the restaurant to a couple. Most of the staff is gone. When I was there, Kim and John had 24/7 security. I don't know what kind of security is there since Charlie came back. Hope it is the same vibe there.
