Manda81.....I've just read the whole thread...so here's my two cents

You will arriving on the 17th which is a Wednesday. If you don't have transfers from Mobay you can book Clive very easily. You will get to CCLP and checked in. They know all about this board and will get you set up if you mention Negril.com. (or even if you don't)

Let them set you up with a cab to wherever you can hook up with the Wednesday webcast and from there on you will have friends who will look out for you. After two days Andre will show up and you can go from there.......... Just don't get sidetracked .........go find Rob and Lisa and the Love Bus posse at whichever place they are.........you'll be fine

It's been good luck for you to find this board....

    Best regards

maybe your friend is worried you will meet another friend if he isn't there to meet you. If you have been reading about Negril I am sure you have figured out there are lots of handsome men (and some not so) looking to be friends

That is exactly what I was thinking. Looks like he is worried that you might find some other big bamboo. You sure he just wants to be friends? I bet he's planning on showing you a good time and hoping for something in return. Than again, he could be different.

    Hey Guys,

She's really concerned. Why don't you give her some good advise instead of running that "bamboo" crap and other stuff.

    Just my feeling ........

I haven't read all the responses yet, but I've gone solo and really (REALLY!) enjoyed myself. It's a scary thought at first, but once you try it, it's a fun adventure. Just be safe. There are a list of things to be careful of, and from the response of CaptainD above, you've probably already received tons of good advice about guys wanting to be your boyfriend. Definitely don't walk alone after dark. I'm a wimp and usually just stay in after dark when on solo trips and get up early a.m. for a long walk on the beach. Also I wouldn't take your expensive jewelry or carry a lot of cash. You'll be fine.

I too think Andre is worried he will be replaced. Seriously. Even if he is not looking for anything more than friendship, he is probably concerned that he may end up being the 3rd wheel once he joins the trip.

If this trip is about spending time with Andre, then by all means change your plans.
If this trip is about visiting Jamaica, then dont... time without him will show you another aspect of JA.

I have to agree with the others. You should go solo. You're going to have a blast! There is nothing you have to worry about and everyone has given so much great advice already. Meet up with Rob and Lisa and go to a webcasts. You'll meet a lot of great people and You'll feel right at home. I never felt unsafe during my trip to Negril.

From what you described it like trying to change everything is a huge headache and not worth the stress and loss of money that it would cause.

Good luck with your decision! It's always best to follow your gut feeling. If you're feeling anxious and you don't want to travel to jamaica without your friend, than you may want to adjust your plans but I really do feel you'll have a wonderful time in Negril regardless.

Think of this as an adventure and remember that it's only two days going solo.

I was able to push my trip back a week at a minimal cost than I originally thought I think I'm just very persistant lol

I was going to just go for the 2 days my friend here said to me Amanda you make friends so quickly you would have no problem... lucky for my Andre has a blackberry and we can instant message but he seemed so put off of the idea of me spending 2 days alone .. he said that he was looking forward to the visit as much as I was and wanted to be the person that picked me up from the airport. I feel silly because all of you have put in such a great effort to help me and I thank you all so much. I know now that next time I'm in Jamaica.. spring 2012 I can definitely do this on my own !
Glad you were able to work things out at a minimal cost!
    Enjoy your trip!
