You're welcome. A little more on the accident... new info after talking to someone on the beach earlier. The jetski operator who hit the swimmer was NOT hotdogging at the time. He had gone over to that area to help some tourists who were having trouble/were stalled on their jetski. After helping them he turned around to head back to the beach so he was not flying by mindlessly. He's a young man who was scared & shocked at what had happened. The young man went from being a good samaritan to causing the death of a tourist in a matter of seconds. So sad all around. No new news on the family of the tourist who died. I think something like this was bound to happen eventually but it didn't happen the way most - myself included - seemed to think it would have played out.

Thanks Yvonne for the update. Poor fella, really sounds like an accident for sure now, not reckless driving. Keeping all involved in my thoughts

My excitement over the ban...was soon mellowed by the info about the jet ski-er...so sad for him.

Thank you for relaying, I feel terrible now for making assumptions. Bless his heart, can't imagine what he's feeling...

Such a tragic situation all around. It's very scary when you're swimming underwater and hear the jet ski's coming close. Sadly, something like this had to happen for authorities to take a look at the lack of safety precautions.

I was out on Long Bay Beach #2 this morning and I saw a jet ski out. So much for a ban eh.

I love riding the jet skis. Look forward to enjoying them each trip. Banning wave runners at the beach would be foolish.

My guess is that if there is a ban now it will be lifted shortly with regulations that will be difficult to enforce unfortunately. That's my speculation. Hopefully operators will abide if in fact the ban is lifted and they are able to operate the PWC's. I don't ride them but many do and banning there use would impact a lot of beach business. Having visited for many years I know the nuisance they can be. I remember when there were no PWC's, back when they dropped and picked up parasailers off the platform in front of Treehouse. Always interesting watching that exchange. It's nice having memories of Negril back when we first started visiting.

Soon come can't come soon enough!
