Re: What's your average day in Jamaica?

Wake up whenever I want....have some tea on the veranda and think about how lucky I am to be able to find an island that I adore! Possibly, wake and bake...and later have some fresh fruit for breakfast. Hopefully, chat with the folks at the resort and maybe have a swim. Very slowly......begin to prepare for the day. Maybe take a walk on West End and chat with friends from long time.

Well, by now it it probably about noon...so tink about a beverage! Ok...now mi ready...grab a route taxi and hit the beach. Not an everyday occurrence...but always a fun day. Walk about 7 mile and browse the area...take a swim...repeat....grab a quick drink and of course....talk some more with the locals. To me, every single day in Jamaica is an adventure. One never knows what will occur or who we will see...it seems magical. There are always familiar faces from previous trips and it seems that they will suddenly appear!!! I may be thinking about Niah (the infamous patty maker) and I run into him at the Corner Bar. I may be thinking about Errol from the former Royal Kitchen...and suddenly, I see him walking about.. That is the magical, ethereal wonders of Negril. Before I know it, my day is made full with the wonderful folks that I have been blessed to have met and call my friends.

Somehow, this wonderful island always delivers. Well...almost...sometimes the days or evenings can be met with a few that take some effort to deal with..but that is life. Generally, every single day is truly a wonder. Jerk chicken is one of my favorite snacks during the afternoon...then later...shower, dress....and hang out for a while before dinner. Choosing where to eat dinner is always a big deal. SO many choices...hit dinner, chat and chill....maybe luck out and hit a concert....Rest and repeat!!!

Captain...thanks for reminding me just how wondrous this island can be. After typing this reply, I am taken aback just how relaxing every single day can be. No, I am not blinded...I have had some days that ...well, rather sucked!!! But, overall, nothing...can compare to a good day in Jamaica!!

Wake up early to watch the sunrise, take a few pics, walk the beach for a bit, find my beach ladies and buy fruit for the day. Go back to my room and shower then get dressed. Do my hair, etc. I go look for breakfast...I usually have a meal under $500J. Back to to the beach, people watch then walk downtown, exchange cash and find something interesting to do. I check the little shops out. I look for Bob Marley Shirts or dresses. Head to value master, buy some snacks and give them to the kids hanging out near BK and the pier. Then head to Sav to look around and to grange hill to hang with family for the day. I dont plan anything but this is usually what I do.

Wake and bake about dawn. Sit by the ocean as the sun rises counting my blessings. Coffee, breakfast, more coffee. Back to the room for a likkle "nap". More recreational combustibles. Walk or taxi to visit with old friends. Maybe some shopping in town. Snacks, drinks, meals whenever & wherever the mood strikes and plenty more time for contemplation. Maybe catch a webcast. Maybe head out for some live music, maybe not. Sit by the ocean under the stars till I start to doze. Hit the sack for a few hours and do it all over again.

Nice! Had I only known as you were the first boardie I ever met, on the bus to Seastar, my first day ever in Jamaica. My wife and I still laugh about that day as we hit all sorts of great places, little did we know.

Re: What's your average day in Jamaica?

Our typical day starts with me being awake way too early, often before dawn. I catch up with the board, emails etc until daylight then pack up and head to the beach. I read a book and watch the beach come to life until Mr. Nutz rolls out of bed. Then it's off to get coffee for him and breakfast for me. We buy a bottle of fresh oj from Flex and it's time for mimosas on the beach and people watching. Usually a nice light lunch from a beach vendor or we head to Niah's for a patty. Lot's of cooling off in the sea, a few cocktails, likkle short strolls here and there and before you know it, the sun is setting and it's time for happy hour! More often than not, dinner is something from Best in the West. A few drinks on our patio, listen to some tunes and call it a night. It's amazing how quickly the day goes and we've usually done very likkle!

Thanks Capn for reminding me how utterly relaxing our lazy days in Negril are!

That is the first place I remember meeting Ras Walleye as well, on the Seastar bus. I was sitting right next to him? I think I apologized for my behavior the next day ?

Lots of good peeps met on that bus either coming or going. Pgw I remember just being glad you survived the night. You were a man on a mission.
