Sounds like we have the same itinerary!

Get up have a beer, cook breakfast, hit the beach, drink beer, have some Jamaican food, drink beer, find a place to hang for the evening, drink beer, go back to room, sleep, rinse and repeat daily!

Up walking on the beach by 8am(I don't party late) to see what I can see.

Meet the wife back at the hotel and go from there. 80% spontaneous ....

Well, I get up just as the sky starts to brighten over the mountains with sunrise still about a half hour away. I meditate on my verandah and hail up the farmers heading for the fields in the bush and the pickney on their way to school.

About 8:30am, Marshall comes back from the bush and fixes me a cup of bush tea (usually cerasee, John Charles, fence post, bah cedar, strongback, susumba leaves, etc. and, of course cinnamon) while he fixes a breakfast of some vegetables and whole wheat bread or ackee and veggie chunks [my personal favorite!]

We sit down and reason for about half an hour before he is back to the bush making coal or tending his dasheen crop.

My afternoons vary from a walk of about a mile to the community center Internet Café, reading a book or writing.

About 6pm and it is about time for dinner. We eat no meat so it is usually fish or veggie chunk related with lots of veggies and wheat bread.

We watch the news at 7pm and then stick in a dvd from a neighbor or a street vendor in Santa Cruz and after about an hour, I look over and Marshall is sleeping. He has seen about 30 minutes of every movie known to man!

About 9pm, I turn off the movie and head to bed. Tomorrow will always be a blessing!

OK - just have to comment - first of all - this web site and message board has been so incredibly helpful in planning my trip. One concern was airport transfer to negril - which I don't have to worry about now b/c of this board and it's recommendations.
Also - this thread has me soo ready to come down there - especially Big Franks comment since I will be at Sea star and his post pretty much is exactly what I am looking for too! Thanks all.

Up before sunrise, generally a walk around the property (wife is never up this early). Back to the room to read til wife wakes. Breakfast, then off to the hammock hut for a series of naps, generally waking myself up with snoring, eat, swim, read, repeat. Best relaxation ever.

No such thing as an "average day" in Jamaica for me. To others it might look like I do the same thing everyday, but they all feel unique to me.

Sometime around 5am the rooster next door will start to crow. He has no idea he is really early, but I've found out he is the pre-crow for the other rooster to get up at 6am to crow. By that time I wake up, put on my shorts, pour a glass of sour sop, and walk out to the hammock. Put on some music (congos, bob, gladiators, greg isaacs.) Connect to the internet if it's working and see if anyone has posted comments to my first day pictures that I tease them with. Then I walk down past the lighthouse to get some fresh coco bread. Walk back and continue to drink sour sop and eat. Around 9am I wake up the wife. Nicole at Bananas Garden will bring a vegetarian breakfast around 9am. Put guava jam on everything she brings us for breakfast because I'm addicted to Guava Jam. Wife drinks her coffee. Then I get in the pool. About 10am we head off to the beach. Go to about 6 bars, walk the beach, several drinks, eat a late lunch. Head back about 6pm and swim in the pool, smoke a cigar, smoke a couple spliffs. If we didn't eat on the beach we head to De Bar for a few drinks and food. After we eat I enjoy another cigar while laying in the hammock. Wife reads her nook in the other hammock. About midnight I take a shower, put on some lovers reggae and chicky chicky bow wow.
