    Boat Bar

I am coming in a couple weeks just wondering who is playing at the boat bar this year?

    Re: Boat Bar

I was asking that question a few weeks back, Takinitslow. I don't think I saw a response. I caught Hiyah Grade there year before last. I really enjoyed them. Saw them one afternoon at the Boat Bar and then later in the week, they opened for General Trees at Roots Bamboo. Here's a link to an article in The Gleaner about them from 2/1. Maybe someone will know.

I "think" I saw somewhere that Sister Doreen and Frank, the sax player, are there this year which makes me think maybe Otis Gayle was listed too, but I cannot swear to it. I cannot find the internet article where I saw it now.

    Recent article on Hiyah Grade:

    Re: Boat Bar

I was there in Dec/Jan and it's not Hiyah Grade anymore. I stopped by one Friday afternoon, when the band was unpacking, and asked and got the band name - but I have bad memory when it comes to names, sorry.

Later edit - I read the news article that JamaGinger linked in Post#11 and recognized the band name from the article as what the band told me. "Oneness" is correct.

I really think it is Frank and some other musicians/singers. And, Frank does not play the sax. He plays the trumpet. I think I must have had Dean Frazier and sax playing on my mind, because I am really loving listening to Dean play sax on the new Tarrus Riley, Love Situation album. I'm sure there's got to be someone who has been by the Boat Bar who may know.

Had the pure pleasure of catching a ride with Otis Gayle a couple of years ago. Just knew he was an amazingly kind and interesting guy. Too ignorant to know at the time I was in the midst of a true LEGEND... He was as humble as I was ignorant... Returned to watch him play and was quickly a fan. Boat Bar is so cool....

    Re: Boat Bar

The only one I recognize is Frank who is playing the trumpet. Oh wait...in the last picture, that is Otis Gayle with the microphone and white shirt in the back. He's a very enjoyable singer and entertainer. I'm not sure about the rest. Anyway, we are getting closer to knowing who is playing. Thanks for posting the pictures you guys!
