    Day 2 - Beachin it

Got up in the morning very excited to have a day at the beach in Negril. Weather was great. Went to breakfast at Coco, which was fine. We had free continental breakfast which includes a bunch of breads and juice or fruit and coffee. Really enough. The breakfast there is pretty expensive but if you want to get something other than continental breakfast they will take $5 off the item. We had three adults in our room and one three year old. They did not provide a free continental breakfast for the three year old for some reason.

When we arrived I asked for the wireless password because I noted they advertised wireless. I was given one wireless password for each device. We never figured it out the entire trip. We saw the various networks for Coco but could never log into them. I am fairly internet saavy and it was not happening. We were not alone. It seems the whole resort was using the free wireless provided by Sandy Haven next door. (I think thats the name) It actually worked fairly well and if you want the best connection go to the gazebo by the main pool in Coco to access. That being said, Coco clearly has some kind of wireless so they should have it accessible to their guests. They should just forget the password mumbo jumbo, make it free like SandyHaven, and everyone would be a much happier camper. Right now it is unusable.

My husband was having his first beach experience and he did get taken a few times the first day because he is just a nice guy.

My daughter had a good time in the sand and loved the ocean, just not the wave part at the shore. I spent most of the day with her in her little penguin in the ocean.

For lunch we wandered over to Sun Beach which pretty much became an every day thing. First, the food was good. Their hamburgers are good, the fries are good (get the handcut if you can), the curry chicken was good, as were the conch bites. Also, it was reasonable and they made good drinks. Sometimes it would take a while to get their attention but they were very friendly. The best part is the swings. If you have a kid that needs a nap, its great. We went every afternoon, had a bite and cocktails while our daughter rested or slept in the swings. The only thing is their beach is not roped off but coco is right next door (well sandy haven is in the middle but almost next door.) Lots of peeps there. If you are a non-drinker, good fruit smoothies and punch. Also, I see all this about being discreet with ganja and it is surprising. Their were guys there openly smoking every day. Didn't bother us.

Here are my pregnant daughter and my three year old in the swings. (big age difference)

For dinner we didn't have plans but noticed that Coco was having a buffet with reggae. We decided to give it a try. We were always on the lookout for earlier reggae bands that we could take our daughter to and that fit the bill. She loves music and dancing and it was something the whole family could do. Plus if she got loud the music would cover it up. The band started with kind of instrumental easy listening stuff and then got into reggae later. It was good. The buffet was small but good. You ordered your entree and it was served. I cant remember the price, it wasnt cheap I know that. I wish Cocos beach bar was open later because that restaurant bar is not really too happening. My daughter had a fun time dancing until she tried to rush the stage.

Forgot to mention that I got a beach lobster. The lobster man was selling for $7 dollars I said I will have one and then before I could say otherwise he cracked two and was saying two for 12 or 14 or something. Feeling bad (but also knowing that this was his selling tactic) I gave him $10 for the lobster because that is what I had on me. It was worth it.

We also cabbed it to Hilo to get some supplies and go to the ATM. Love going there, so interesting, got our Wallingford coffee for gifts. I do agree that there must be a commission on Red Stripe because as soon as we entered a man was directing us to the red stripe and helping us get it to the cashier. We also got some Lime cards for the phone provided to us by Kingsley. It was pretty easy to add the cards and cheap. That was a nice perk, the use of the cell phone.

Tomorrow beach and first trip to the west end

Our last stay at Coco we used the SandyHaven wifi the entire time, just couldn't connect to Coco's. It really is something they need to deal with...

Nice report - love the pictures!

Lol! I missed day 1 somehow too, but really enjoyed day 2. Love the swing photo. Reminds me of when I used to take my little ones. Now they go without me! My daughter was at Coco over 2 months ago and complained of the sketchy wi-fi. Still one of my favorite places to stay, though.
