    When do YOU go?

    Hey folks!

Been away for a while......did I miss anything??? Wow!!!

Sorry to hear about the unfortunate incidents lately and we hope all involved are coping well.

Man it takes a Long time to read all the posts on here if you stay away too long.

    Anyway.......My question this time is........

When do you like to take your trips to Negril?

We pretty much always found ourselves going sometime in April or May. (spring for us) That just always seemed like a good way to put an end to a usually crappy winter. (especially this year)
But the last couple years we have been able to get in a short reach in November to supplement the "jones".

I'm just wondering if that's the norm? Do most people have set times that they go each year?
Or do the majority of you just go whenever you get the chance.....regardless of what time of the year it is?

    Thanks for any input!

Good to see some of the same folks are still on here......and a lot of newbies too!

    Re: When do YOU go?

The timing of my trips revolves around when I can get the best plane fare and hotel deals in conjunction with how bad I am missing the place. Have never been in December, January, or February, but have been every other month in the year. Guess that goes to show that it is pretty difficult to get great deals, when the snow abounds in the north.

    Re: When do YOU go?

April's good, beginning of low season yet most places are still open.

We have reached in every month except July and August and there is something to like about all of them.

The weather varies somewhat from year to year just like it does here, i.e.: one April the temp was in the mid 90s every day, the next, it was back into the low to mid 80s like usual.

Off season is quieter, less busy, some places are closed. In season is busy, more music available, everyting is open.

We love the holiday season the best, but of course it is also the priciest, busiest, and there are more potential weather delays getting to and from, esp this year. And you have to make your plans way in advance for the resort and room that you want. We have already reserved for next holidays.

I don't think there is a bad season or month to visit Jamaica. Go when you can get off of work and enjoy.

My wife and I go in Dec. (her B-day), and Mar. (mine). Just booked the Dec trip thru AA Vacations for $1602, staying at Travelers.

    Re: When do YOU go?

I always aim for twice a year in low season, October/November and April/May. Low season so I can stay longer. And it breaks up the year nicely too. If I stay away too long I start to get angry. I also plan it around my work schedule, obviously. Because of the way my shift rotations work, I get a free week off when we swap days.

    Re: When do YOU go?

My usual time is summer when I can stay for several weeks (4-8). That worked best when I was teaching. It's still my favorite time now that I'm retired. Just got back from my 2nd late Jan - early Feb trip. Too busy & crowded for my liking. I like relaxing. Over the 28 years I've been going to Negril I've gone over spring break 2X, Thanksgiving 1X, several New Year's trips but not for some time. Early on I'd go in May but the teaching position switched me to summers.... early/mid June to mid July. Only 1X in August... my 2nd trip that summer.

    Re: When do YOU go?

My favourite time of year (so far) is Christmas/NY. It is def more $$$, but I'm off work over the holidays so I hate to sit at home and watch the snow fall, and NY is Magical! I found October too quiet, not a lot of vendors out, a lot less activity on the beach. We like April too, not crazy busy but still lots going on Haven't tried the summer, I'd rather go when the white stuff is on the ground...

    Re: When do YOU go?

We have been going in Feb. to break up the winter here in the northeast.....very typical. This year's trip is especially welcome with the weather we've had.
