So if someone in a cab at home robbed you folks, would you advise against using US taxis?
Just curious because like you said, you were robbed by a person in a "legitimate" red plate taxi, sorry for your loss but it could happen to anyone in any country using a taxi "chartered" or randomly picked up.
Thank you Steve for your rates, I do have to say that while reasonable it's not "identical" to what two people would pay for a route taxi.
$100 J/person/leg x8(round trip)=$800J VS $20USD.
That quickly adds up and is a far cry from the identical rates people were saying private drivers charge when two or more people are considered.

Blake,
Your information is out of date. It is j$130 per leg now. So it would be j$1020 (if you have the correct change) or about us$11 vs. a us$20 point to point, door to door private ride with no changing of vehicles necessary and no additional risks involved. Since there would be 8 legs as you count them, that works out to be slightly more than about a us$1 more per leg. One dollar.... maybe you could consider it a tip...

That's hardly a negligible difference over the course of a week.
$11 VS $20 is almost a 100% increase assuming two people, or almost four times as expensive assuming one person.
Let's say you take conservatively 2 trips a day(I know the last time I was there I was making 3-4 round trips a day to check out different places) that's an extra $126 over the course of a week.
This is all assuming that every driver is going to charge $20, I had drivers quote me $15 one way before, the wild fluctuation in pricing means that you're eventually going to be paying more than $20 for round trips.

Perhaps you don't know the Route Taxi rates have gone up. There hasn't been a "$100 leg" in donkey years. You can check that out here.

Considering that a Route Taxi might be full of people (sometimes 6 or more) then you have to stop and let people off and pick up new people etc. until by the time you get to your restaurant a half hour could have passed.
Steve (and other Charter Drivers) will take you directly there and stop at an ATM if you need etc.
Seems like a lot of people use outdated prices, articles, links, etc. to further their opposition position on using a Route Taxi instead of a Charter Driver.
Just my opinion.
