Re: Donating to St. Anthony's Kitchen

Wife and I just returned from Negril and wanted to say that our time spent at St. Anthony's was the highlight of our trip(as it always is)...The Crew at SA work so hard to prepare and serve meals and appreciate both monetary contributions and volunteers to help serve...........Thanks to Fr. "Gem" for his efforts!

We will be down the 1st week of May and would love to help out one morning/day. I am collecting items and school supplies to bring also.
Is there a better time to come and help and drop off?

Re: Donating to St. Anthony's Kitchen

Dear Mamade11, Would love to have you join us a The Kitchen. The morning shift deals with the children. Ms. Pearl and crew arrive at the Kitchen about 5:30 a.m. The children arrive around 7:00 a.m. and come and go until around 8:00 a.m. You can show up about 6:30 and help get ready for them or show up around 7:00 to see the kids and assist (though once the breakfast is prepared getting the food to the kids is pretty simple. It's a great experience in any event. Monday morning is the best day to come if you want to work. Once the children are gone then the chopping, slicing, dicing begins--onions, garlic, carrots, yam, etc.--they do this for the week on Monday morning. By about 10:00 most of the work is done. On other mornings the work is not so vigorous. Once the stuff is on the stove there isn't much action until lunch. If you want to do the lunch shift then 11:00 to 1:00 is the busy time. Wednesdays and Fridays are the two days when we generally have the least volunteers at lunch time. So, hope this helps! --Fadder Jim

Question Re: Donating to St. Anthony's Kitchen- Back to School Program

Hi Fadder Jim, in your post below you mentioned that the Mission Office of the Franciscan in Western Canada had moved to Victoria. Could you provide the full address, I seemed to have missed it in later posts. Thank you. I would like to make a donation for the upcoming school year.

First, the Mission Office of the Franciscan in Western Canada has moved from Lumsden to Victoria, B.C. I am waiting to receive the new address and info for Canadians making gift to us through them. Will post the info as soon as I get it. The director is out of the country at the moment but did let me know he received my request. Also, you certainly are welcome to sponsor a child in part or in full but you can also make a contribution to assist in any other way you wish--to the Kitchen or just a general donation to help. Whatever works for you is fine with us. --Fadder Jim
