Great report! I had many similar experiences. I started crying when we left yesterday and Norbert (Shorty) our guide and driver gave me a big hug..heck I hugged everybody! Donna our wonderful housekeeper. A beautiful tall Jamaican woman whom we gifted and chatted with every day and thanked me and hugged me on our last day. Richard on the beach whom we didn't buy one tour from, but just a beer once in awhile hugged me often and with respect. I am a big smiler and I believe you should treat people with divinity and respect. I travel to Mexico often and have formed many friendships over the years. It's not about the money...some people think it is. Jamaicans also have such a wonderful sense of humour and loved my husbands rather dry humour.
I danced the night away at Bourbon Beach one night. Mostly with a lovely young woman named Tenisha..I think..I had men approach me but with respect. I only once had to let one know that I didn't wanted to rub-a-dub..and I know how ..lol.. Rather they came up to me and said I danced like a Jamaican woman and they said "respect". The one night at the Rondel Jennifer said she could see how much I loved to dance. Every time I saw her she took time to stop and chat with me.
I feel genuinely sorry for people who just "tip" so they get the treatment they want. They have no idea what they are missing. Oh d**n...eyes getting getting teary again..
"When I feel like dancing, I dance. I don't care if anyone else is dancing or if everyone is laughing at me.. I dance.."
