Absoutely. I think they mean it can be used to secure a partially opened slider or window.

I realize the window can be broken..but the main thing I am going for is to have notice if someone enters my room..My door alarms just let a screech and that is why I'll be using them..just so I know if someone tries to enter..and hopefully, scare them off..Realizing , of course, that the alarm is only on when I am in the room..thats why there will never be valuables in therel I think the main thing is..we all have a plan..and what ever that plan is...we relax and enjoy more!

I am learning a lot here...never really thought of the little rubber door stops...PS..my door alarm can also be used for the window..its just a matter of two things parting and the sound emits. But I think door stoppers will just cinch it for me..and they are small to carry!

A nice machete is only $7.00 at the hardware store...no need for all those silly security measures.....

All kidding aside....how do people traveling with kids comfort them that security measures are needed at a $$$ a night resort? My girls (7&12) would not be able to sleep if I had to bar the doors and do whatever with the windows.

And bringing a portable steel bar to secure the door....no big deal

In the end better safe than sorry and if it makes you feel better why not.

I found the same or at least very similar lock just when I was about to give up. Mine has the rubber pad which is mentioned in the one star review. Interesting that the one person who reviewed & basically hated it based their review on that missing pad. When I first moved into my home I had a courtesy home safety inspection from the local sheriff's dept. I was told that having those door/window locks was better than paying for an alarm system & that they were the best security item they'd recommend.
