For $15, this portable door jam can add a lot of security in Negril

Bought this for my ex-wife and kids to use at RIU Negril when we all arrive in Negril together in late June (I will be at Seastar Inn).

I think it's safe without it, but you can never be too sure.

i usually just push a chair in front of the door inside & always bring a jingle bell on a rope for outside just in front of my door.

That is actually a fantastic idea... They collapse, and travel easily. I see folks with them when I am at inner city properties for work. I think I'll pick one up for the next trip.

Thing with the Rui's is that no matter what someone has to swipe a key card for a door to open. A mainframe computer tracks the individual numbers to the cards that are signed out and collected after every shift. Meaning if that door is opened it can be positively tracked.

No the RIU no longer uses keys? That's a new one .... All I know is a good portion of the people I've made that have stayed at RIU have reported thefts, including from the safes. With the door jam, at least no one can come in at night when you're inside the room. That's better than nothing.

This pays me zero comfort. The item Gerry posted works great and the only way someone gets in that room is thru another opening.

i actually prefer the ear screeching door alarms as the noise alone will chase off the tief.

That could be, but in Negril, loud noises are much less alarming compared to USA.

I have already bought the door alarms for the trip but I think this stopper thing is excellent...I'm going to get it for traveling...Hope I'm not ending up like the guy in Conspiracy Theory..(suppose I could put a bottle on top of the door knob!!)
