Tours and payment

First trip April 17-24, travelling solo. My travel agent sent me a link to tours and pretty much they are minimum 2 people. I checked out a bus tour that looked good, Pelican Bar / Black River Tour / Ys Falls, only available on Thursday which is my travel day. Any suggestions for other bus tours?

Also, If I contact some of the driver's listed here, do I pay up front on credit card or pay when I get there?

Any of the drivers here can arrange a custom tour to your schedule. I've always agreed on a price and paid cash upon completion of the tour. With a tip based on the amount of personalized service.

Ask the board! Post it. Someone I'm sure will be going on a tour during this time and would welcome you to jump in and share some of the cost.

we did that trip private driver, it was great, Pelican Bar was awesome, bring towels to sit on for the boat ride , old seats out of fiberglass, we picked fiberglass slivers out our asses for 2 weeks, soon come

That's the tour we did. I'm guessing we had 8 people or so on the tour with us. We had a great time but we were shot by the time we got back.

We may going to the Pelican Bar and Appleton because I will have two newbies wih me. I've done it before and it takes all day for the most part.

Any of the drivers listed on this site will take you on a solo day trip, or maybe have you tag along with one that is already scheduled with another group. Last year I did Mayfield Falls: lovely one hour drive up into the hills, medium difficulty hike and easy climb through various waterfalls. This year I did an afternoon at Zimbali (find it on Tripadvisor, they will pick you up): about an hour drive, low difficulty hike through a very well maintained organic farm growing everything under the sun, followed by a lively cooking demonstration with lunch and some chill time before departure. The nice thing about Zimbali is that you will not be alone since this is very popular and there were a few solos with us that day too. Other than the Zimbali day trip, we use Kingsley James ("Kingsley Take Care Tours" on this site under Transportation tab) for RT airport transportation and excursions, and pay the quoted price in cash plus tip at the end of the drive. Next year I would like to try Floyd's but I really love getting into the lush Jamaican jungle too.
