New traveler
Hi all,
First let me say that I have done very little domestic travling in the U.S. and none at all internationally...yet. I will be traveling with my best bud on March 20th for 4 nights at Samsara on the Cliffs. I luckily stumbled across this place via living social and it seems like exactly what I am looking for. I am a 35 year old laid back adventurer/pothead/hooligan. Any recommendations on cool places to go would be awesome. I've been doing some research and feel I have a pretty good idea of what to expect but first hand knowledge is always better! The one big thing I am unsure of are the ganja tours. We would LOVE to do one of these but I have read some sketchy reviews about this (some were good) and I see how this could easliy be sketchy! Has anyone been on one of these or know much about them?
If you will be in Negril from March 20-24th and would like to hang out and see what kind of trouble we can get into send me a message!
Based on everything I have read I will want to go back soon and making making some friends with regular travelers here would be fun.
Thanks in advance!

Re: New traveler
Walk over to Pee Wee's bar on Monday night for open Mic night. Great music and a fun, no frills bar. If you meet the owner, Perrell (he will be one of the people singing), tell him that Julee Mango from Michigan sent him. Things get started around 8:30ish. Even if you don't make it on a Monday, it's still a great little bar.

Re: New traveler
First of all I don't know why you think someone named BuckeyeJeff would take any advice from someone from Michigan! LOL just kidding. Thank you for the advice but I will be leaving on Monday afternoon unfortunately. Is there another day to try this place? This sounds like it's right up my alley!

Re: New traveler
Stop by the No-Limit Bar (across from Pee Wee's) for some cold Red Stripes & dominoes ~~

Re: New traveler
Hi, omg, where do I start with you, Ive only been a few times to Negril, but being on this board has made me someone of an expert now
so heres a few suggestions. Since your stay is short, you have to pick at least one day to go to the beach.
I would suggest to get dropped off at Margaritaville, and drink, walk, and socialize all day. You will have a hard time leaving the beach. Y ou will have no problem finding anything you are looking for, but keep in mind, always be discreet. I would probably say no to the ganja tours, my guess it would be a disappointment. For some great listening to reggae live bands, hit the jungle I believe Thursday night, or Alfreds, Sundays and Fridays, both on the beach. Be very careful if you try
walking on the roads in the Cliffs by where you are staying, traffic can be very dangerous, keep your wits about you and you will have a blast. Last but not least, if you get a taxi, make sure it has a red plate. Hope this all helps. have fun!!!!

Re: New traveler
Thanks guys! jojo, our resort has a sister resort on the beach with a shuttle service so the beach will be done! I know this a short trip but we originally weren't even going to Jamaica until I stumbled across a living social deal. I am getting married later this year and this was all the time off i could afford. If it is as awesome as it seems, and everybody says, I will go back for a more extended trip! Baby steps...

Re: New traveler
Perfect, be sure to report how your trip was, everyone loves to hear about a first timers adventure.

Re: New traveler
I second advising you to skip the plantation tour but not because it would be disappointing. It isn’t and certainly wouldn’t be to a self proclaimed “adventurer/pothead/hooligan” however it is risky. Unless a recommendation knows the owner or guide extremely well, I would suggest being content with the local distributors and keep the party on the beach and the cliffs.

Re: New traveler
Pee Wee's is a good time at any time. Also head to the beach and spend a day or 2 bar hopping.
