Phillip's Jamaica Tours - Amazing Driver and Guide!

We visited Negril for our first time a little over a week ago. After doing some research, we decided to go with Phillip Kongal from Phillip's Jamaica Tours - who is featured here on this site under transportation. His prices were much more affordable and his emails were very professional as we set things up. Phillip was waiting for us when we arrived, smiling, clean cut and professional. His ride van was clean, sturdy and air conditioned (though we didn't care, hell we just escaped the arctic!). He had his own home made fresh rum punch recipe from fresh juice - not the store bought crap - it was absolutely delish and we polished it off quickly. Red stripe and other refreshments were available as well.

Phillip was great, well spoken and did a great job of educating us on our way to Negril, pointing out things as we passed and giving us a good background of the area as we made our way to our hotel. We felt safe and grateful to be in his hands. On our way we set up a day to go do some exploring with him. We were staying at two hotels so we did it on our switch day. He picked us up and off we went to tour the land. He brought us to the best coconut stand - biggest ones I saw on the island that week. He brought us a few other places, including Mayfield and the farmer's market. We got to see the countryside of Jamaica, the mountains, farms, meet farmers, and so on. It was a great experience and i'm glad he talked us into it. We loaded up on local foods and he encouraged me to bake my first breadfruit. Our second hotel had a kitchen and so I did and my goodness, it was amazing!

Our ride home was perfect as well. He was always on time or early. And he was such a great conversationalist which helped pass the time as we sadly left Negril. I am a nature geek and love to learn about the local herbs, medicines, foods, etc. and we gabbed the whole way to the airport about it. Like I said, we were really grateful to get to know him and use him as our driver and guide and will definitely use him when we go back again this year. We also highly recommend him - his prices are unbeatable and his service top notch. Thanks Phillip!
