I've been quoted in the Jamaica Gleaner on this a number of times, and try to be reasonable. The jet ski's have been a problem due to lack of regulation and enforcement. I've had a jet ski worker physically threaten me when I objected to his riding through the middle of a group of people at full speed. The dangers are definitely there, and the noise and pollution are bad. However, there is a market for them and they do provide employment for many locals. What we need more than a ban is enforced regulations with riding areas clearly outlined and shown by the jet ski staffs. Without the dreaded jet ski's, there is more unemployment in a desperate nation. Hours of operation and enforcement of the rules will make them something that we can live with and help the economy of an area we love.
