Advice please...flying ON Thanksgiving
Every year we go to Negril the last two weeks in April, and the first two weeks in December. Last year our schedule was messed up by where Thanksgiving fell. Because of that (and my wife's work schedule) we lost two days. This year we are having the same problem. I really don't want to face the airport traffic right before, or right after Thanksgiving, so I'm looking at flying ON Thanksgiving. Has anyone done this? I feel it should not be that bad, as who really wants to fly ON Thanksgiving...but I've assumed things before and have learned not to do that. Any insight into this situation would be much appreciated.

Re: Advice please...flying ON Thanksgiving
Flying on major holidays is *BEST*. The big push is over, nearly everyone is already where they're going. No traffic; the roads are deserted on your drive to the airport. And at the airport it's no crowds, short lines, and overall just generally much less crazy. Both Thanksgiving and Christmas are much more relaxing travel days than the normal abject madness that travel has become. LOL.
- and bonus, airfare for travel 'on' the holiday is usually cheaper too.

Re: Advice please...flying ON Thanksgiving
We have flown on Thanksgiving before, probably the best day we ever flew for traffic. Very few people flying. The only problem we had was we had a layover and everything in the airport was closed, could not get anything to eat.

Re: Advice please...flying ON Thanksgiving
For several years I used to fly to Negril from Boston via Miami on Thanksgiving Thursday. As stated previously it was a light day for travel as most everyone wanted to be home the day before Thanksgiving.
Enjoy,
