Are there any Calgarians on the Board? We are hardy bunch, traveling 13 or 14 hours and paying so much for each trip [we wouldn't complain about $ 400 or $ 450 for sure], showing a remarkable loyalty to Negril. Should get together for a drink in Negril, or Calgary. Let us get to know each other !

    Re: It's raining Canadians!

As someone who was born in Jamaica, moved to Britain as a child for 5 years, returned to Jamaica for 20 years, emigrated to Canada(been here 22 years) and is married to a French Canadian, I have learned that there are more similarities between people of all nationalities than differences. You really cannot generalize. My parents taught me that as a child and it's so true. Canada has become a melting pot (my two best friends there are from Hong Kong and Mexico) and in talking to my Canadian friends, it seems that the friendly, more laid back culture in Jamaica is a big draw. Canadians are as patriotic as Americans, just lower key. Jamaicans love their country and culture, and are happy to share that with all visitors who show interest and respect. My husband and I have made many friends over the years that we met at the resorts in Negril, Montego Bay, Ocho Rios and Kingston We spend part of our stay at the beach and part of the time in Kingston to see family and friends. My friends think my husband might have been Jamaican in a previous life as he has grown to love the country, food, culture and people so much! There is good and bad everywhere. Keep an open mind and we'll all learn a lot about each others country and culture.
