Need Jamaica Phone help. I just heard from a lady with a brand new Blackberry Bold 9650 i could buy to bring down. I know this can do GSM and takes a SIm my question is what will Digicel charges be to have it activated as a smartphone?? I have never had a smartphone just regular service. i will only use it for this years couple weeks.

So put 10 US on it and you're good for two weeks with more data than you can use....and....4G in Negril. I get 4Mbs up on Zion Hill...
Try doing that with AT&T, Verizon....etc.....

I used my iPhone with a Digicel chip last time and it worked great. Data cheap cheap. Never had a Crackberry but I imagine it would work just as well. Just make sure it is unlocked.

Thanks guys. It has never been activated and when I called the company it was from they said they do not use the sim feature or use it as a gsm network so it would need to be set in settings to use gsm and then i would just insert sim and have to get data from sim provider, i told them for jamaica and they said would be fine. I hated my blackberry I had years ago and switched after days, sent it to a friend in JA and they were thrilled. A smart phone that works while there would be great and I know many staff members that will be thrilled to be left a BB at leaving time as BB are still valued in JA.
Sounds like I wont get killed on data plan charge that is great also. Thank You for answers.
