I just asked my friend and she said they use two different apps for their iPad: Proloquo2Go ($189.99) and iCommunicate ($29.99). She also mentioned that there is a good free app called: SoundingBoard (from iTunes only), but it does not do "text to speech". It basically allows you to create custom communication boards that you can point to instead of speaking. Maybe you could try that one first since it's free. It works on both the iPhone and iPad. You can also go on YouTube, search for each app, and then watch demos of how they work. There are many other similar apps for both iPads and android tablets, so you can google, "text to speech" apps to find others if those do not fit your needs. I hope that helps! Good luck!
