Cannon and anchor on snorkel trip

Hi, just left last night and home in Vancouver with major jet lag. Can't stop thinking about Thursdays snorkel trip and seeing the anchor and cannon by the reef. My husband thinks they were placed there. I really want to believe the pirate or shipwreck story. Can anyone contribute some insight?

They've been there since at least 1968.

It's what remains of Calico Jack's pirate ship that sunk in 1720 so a long time before 1968.

I got to Negril in '68 so that's what I know. However I think Mr. Glenn is correct.

How old were those guys and where did they get that information?

Maybe they're from Pirate Fred Stripe's adventures!

I put em there in 1962 while treasure hunting. Had toss the cannons overboard to outrun the po po. Yes u read cannons. Two were removed and are at westender establishments, I'm sure u have seen them. Was also a metal treasure box, it's at another establishment.
